FOUR YEARS ON: It is unfortunate Chibok girls
‘re still in captivity — Dogara
*Calls for release of Leah Sharibu
By Levinus
Nwabughiogu
Speaker of the House of
Representatives, Hon.
Yakubu Dogara, says it is regrettable
that many of the over
200 Chibok school girls in
Borno State were still in captivity
four years after their abduction
by Boko Haram.
The Speaker made the remark
in commemoration of
the fourth anniversary of the
girls’ abduction in Abuja, yesterday.
While urging intensified efforts
towards providing adequate
security at schools in the
country, Dogara, in a statement
from his office, called on
President Muhammadu Buhari
to step up action that
would lead to the rescue of the
girls.
The Speaker also tasked
the executive arm of government
on the release of Leah
Sharibu, the Dapchi girl who
was not released along with
other abductees, reportedly
for refusing to renounce her
faith.
“It is unfortunate that four
years after, all of our daughters
have still not been accounted
for. This underpins the
need to take swift action when
such incidents occur and to
provide adequate security, not
on a temporary basis but permanently,
so that such tragedies
can be prevented”, the
statement said.
“Nigeria has an alarming
number of children out of
school and if we genuinely
want to solve this challenge,
then we must make our learning
institutions as safe and secure
as possible.
“One can only imagine the
amount of grief that the parents
of those whose daughters
are yet to be rescued have to
cope with on a daily basis.
While we may offer words of
support, the fact remains that
nothing will put them in better
spirits than to be reunited
with their children.
“I hereby call on President
Muhammadu Buhari, as the
father of the nation and Commander-in-Chief
of the Armed
Forces, to put an end to their
sorrow by freeing their daughters
from captivity.
“We must also remember
Leah Sharibu and her remarkable
bravery and intensify
efforts as a nation to bring
her home. All others who were
taken by these terrorists
against their will must also be
reunited with their people. The
security of lives and property
Concept Nova unveils solution to
boost fleet management In Nigeria
Nigeria’s
most
innovative
information technology
company, Concept Nova has
launched a new solution that
will boost fleet management
in Nigeria.
The innovative solution
known as the FleeTrak Fleet
Management Application,
can optimally and efficiently
manage 5-5000 fleets of
vehicles. It provides total
transparency of fleet,
providing visibility into
maintenance, vendor
m a n a g e m e n t ,
documentation, and fuel
consumption as well as the
lifespan efficiency of vehicle
parts, alongside, other
significant fleet management
features.
Speaking on the FleeTrak
FMA, the Managing Director
of Concept Nova,
Chukwuma Ochonogor said:
“The successful
Management of fleet has
been a task that has resulted
to loss of revenue for most
organisations, as this has
been characterised with
insincerity, theft, and
mismanagement. The
FleeTrak FMA has been
designed to resolve all these
issues and help organisations
reduce cost while getting the
optimum use of their fleet.”
He added: “FleeTrak FMA
has unique industry-winning
features that set a standard
for fleet management
solutions. It is intuitively
packed with modules that put
you miles ahead of your
competition. It was created
not only to account for
expenditure on fleet but also
reduce the cost of managing
your fleet”.
The outgoing Deputy Na
tional Chairman (South)
of the All Progressives Congress
(APC), Chief Segun Oni, says
the steady increase of Nigeria’s
foreign reserves under President
Muhammadu Buhari is
a clear indication that the Federal
Government’s economic
policies are working contrary
to the claims from the main
opposition party, the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP).
Oni, in a statement by his
media aide, Mr. Steve Alabi, in
Ado-Ekiti, pointed out that the
leap of $45 billion, which is 54
months high, is a radical departure
from the constant depletion
that happened under
the PDP in the last administration.
Oni commended Buhari for
providing strong and transparent
leadership that led to the
increase through the stoppage
of unnecessary importation
which has reduced the nation’s
import bill and the encouragement
of foreign investment
which has increased investor
activity tremendously.
“We must not forget where
we are coming from. The economy
was badly managed; foreign
reserves were being depleted
to satisfy the consumption
cravings of a greedy political
and business class. The APC
government, under the able
leadership of President Buhari,
is daily turning things around.
The economy is now stable. It’s
stabilized, it can no longer go
down, it can only come up. This
is one of the main achievements
of this administration.”
While lauding the exit from
economic recession and the
strong recovery in foreign exchange
reserves, Oni charged
lot
Ȧccording to Oni, who is also
Muhammadu Buhari administration,
and the state is one of
the few states where the pilot of
the programme took office in
January 2017.
According to Adewolu ,the
programme had led to a boost
in agricultural production in
the state,as over 25,000 farmers,
many of whom had been
trained individually or in cooperatives
by the Ogun State
Agricultural Development Programme
(OGADEP), were cultivating
different food crops to
feed our pupils.
“We have employed 2,948
vendors across the state who
cook for the pupils in one thousand
We are proud of Ugwuanyi’s good
governance initiatives, says PDP
The national leadership
of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) has commended
Governor Ifeanyi
Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for
the “unprecedented peace
and good governance he has
entrenched in the state”.
The PDP said that Ugwuanyi
is a peaceful leader who
honors God and works very
hard to provide the dividends
of democracy to positively
impact the lives of the people
in line with the dictates of the
party’s manifesto.
Speaking at the rally of the
PDP in Enugu West, held at
existing peace in Enugu
State.
The Deputy Senate President,
Senator Ike Ekweremadu,
in his remark, explained
that the essence of the
peace rally was to appreciate
the governor for entrenching
peace and good governance
in the state, pointing out that
prior to the inception of his
administration, the state had
witnessed some challenges
that undermined its peace.
Ekweremadu said the people
of Enugu State and Enugu
West in particular were
happy that Ugwuanyi had
brought “permanent peace”
in the state.
A business mogul and philanthropist,
Prince Arthur
expressed gratitude to God
for making it possible for the
good governance, in spite of
the nation’s economic challenges.
the people of Enugu West Senatorial
District in “a special
way” and all stakeholders in
the state for their prayers,
goodwill, solidarity and support,
