Cimarron CIA 2018 Pool Season
We had great success last year with our pool card access system and
much better control of who entered our community pool.
Access to the pool will be available to all Cimarron residents that are
current with their HOA dues and have completed the pool registration
form for pool card activation. If you received an access card last year,
the card will be activated once the 2018 pool registration form has been
processed. If you did not register last year for an access card, you are
eligible to receive the first access card at no charge. This card will be
reactivated each year once criteria noted above is verified. Additional
cards or lost card replacements may be purchased for $50 each. Please
complete and return the attached pool registration form for processing.
*Any child under 11 years old must be accompanied by an adult over 18
years of age*
*PLEASE note that an alarm will sound if the gate remains open too long*
*Each and every person entering the pool must also sign in*
*Cimarron’s picture access cards will now be considered INVALID*
RENTERS: New renters must contact their landlord for pool card
registration. Previous tenants do not return the cards to Cimarron’s
management company and should the landlord not provide one for
you, you will be required to purchase a replacement pool access card.
Residents will be required to show proof of residency, i.e. state issued id,
utility bill or current lease agreement.
NEW OWNER: Welcome to the neighborhood. If a pool access card has
been provided to the previous owner, you will be required to purchase
a replacement pool access card. If you have paid your assessments
and return the completed registration form, your existing card will be
reactivated or you will be issued a new pool access card ($50).
Pool card registration will be available on the following dates at the
office of MASC Austin Properties, Inc. located at 945 Eldridge Rd. Sugar
Land, TX 77478. Wednesday, May 23 rd - 5-7 PM, Friday, May 25 th - 9 AM-5
PM, Friday, June 1 st - 9 AM-5 PM, Wednesday, June 6 th - 5-7 PM.
Our office accepts exact cash, money orders or checks made payable
to Cimarron CIA. Upon verification of delinquency status, MASC Austin
Properties, Inc. will activate your existing card and/or mail the new card.

additional information. The form and payment, can be brought to onsite

Yard of the Month
For the months April-September, the Cimarron Community Improvement
Association, Inc. Yard of the Month Committee will choose (3) homes and
reward them for their exemplary lawn care. The winners of the Yard of the
Month will be provided with a decorative yard sign for display indicating
their winning yard along with a $25 Lowe’s gift card. In order to qualify,
residents must be current on their Association Dues for the year. Please
note, the sign will be picked up at the end of the month by the Yard of the
Month Committee. We encourage all homeowners to take pride in their

Cimarron Swordfish Swim Team
Registration Open
The Cimarron Swordfish Swim Team Registration is available online at
our website: www.cimstswordfish.com. Our fees are low and we accept
swimmers ages 4-18 from any Katy-West Houston area neighborhood.
Our coaches have many years of experience and skills in all aspects of
the swim strokes. Hurry! Registration ends May 1, 2018. We look forward
to having you swim with the Swordfish!
ACC Approval for Home
Improvement
If you are planning any home improvements, keep in mind that all exterior
modification to your property, with the exceptions of basic landscaping,
must be submitted to the architectural control committee. No work may
be started until the ACC committee has approved your request. This
includes painting and roof replacement, even if you’re using the existing
colors. Cimarron requires that all homeowners receive ACC approval
in order to maintain the beauty and design of our neighborhood. The

If you pay your water bill to Harris County MUD #81:
Collection days are Monday and Thursday for garbage and Monday
for recycling. Please secure all garbage in the 65 gallon black garbage
cart with red lid and the green recycling cart provided by Best Trash. On
collection days, please place the carts as close to the street as practicable,
facing forward.

TRASHCAN REMINDERS FOR EVERYONE TO FOLLOW
On collection days make sure to set your trash receptacle out by 7 AM but
no earlier than 6 PM the evening before. Trash receptacles/carts must be
stored inside your garage or behind the fence line at all times. They must
be stored out of public view by 8 AM the following morning. Please note
that a deed restriction violation letter will be sent out for those who do
not comply with the policy.
Attention! Drive Slow
Please be careful and slow down while driving through the subdivision;
remind your young drivers to do also. Please, be aware of your
surroundings and parents, remind your children to watch for vehicles
when crossing the street.

Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s office is proud to announce their
new website. Residents are encouraged to access www.constablepct5.
com, which went live as of February 27, 2015. The website is designed to
provide the user with information about the command staff, the various
divisions within the Precinct 5 Constable’s jurisdiction and various
programs the office offers to the public.
• The Precinct will be offering Crime Alerts as a way to quickly let citizens
know what is going on in their area. One you sign up on the website, a
person will received a text message or an email when important events
are taking place in the district. These alerts will only contain relevant
information and a person may unsubscribe at any time.
• The Precinct will also be offering a Citizens Police Academy. For 2 -1/2
per week over a 9 week period, instructors will show the participant
various aspect of being a police officer. Many of the classes will include
hands on participation and are available to anyone 21 and up and the
application is available on the website. Class size is very limited. A brief

• The Precinct will be offering Operation Safe Child. Precinct 5 has

2 certified child safety technicians who are partnering with Texas
Children’s’ Hospital to demonstrate the proper usage and installation of
car seats. These technicians are current on all styles, brands, recalls and
the proper way to secure your child based on height, weight and age. The
sessions are quarterly and a person can actually bring their car seat and
child for a demonstration. A person can also request these outings to be
held in the neighborhood.

Parked Cars
Please park your vehicles in your garage or at least in your driveway,
if at all possible. Please be considerate of your neighbors and the fire
trucks on your street. If you must park on the street, be considerate of
the neighbor across the street, who must back from a driveway in order
to enter the street. As our area has grown, so has the number of vehicles
in the subdivision. Most seem to have more than one car per family and
some have even more, as the children become driving age. Please try to
be considerate of others who try to navigate between the cars that are
left on the street. Children darting into the street or riding bicycles are
more easily seen with less parked cars blocking the view of them. Thank
you for your cooperation.

Katy ISD Spring 2018
Commencement Ceremonies
The Katy ISD Spring 2018 Commencement Ceremonies will begin on
Friday, May 25, 2018 and conclude on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Leonard
E. Merrell Center, 6301 South Stadium Ln, Katy, TX 77494. Commencement
Ceremonies will be live streamed @ www.merrellcenter.org.
Katy ISD Summer Band Camp
The sixteenth annual summer band camp, offered to next year’s 7 th ,
8 th and 9 th grade KISD band students, will be held at Tompkins High
School from July 16 th to July 20 th . The camp will include daily section
rehearsals, full band rehearsals and fun music-based electives. Lunch is
also part of the camp. The cost of the camp is $130 and will include a
t-shirt if registered by June 5 th . All registrations after that date will need
to include a late registration fee of $25 totaling $155. Any registration
request after June 29 th must be sent via email and if approved, payment
MUST BE either cash, money order or cashier’s check.
The camp concludes with the Grand Finale Concert on Friday morning
at 9 AM. After the concert, those students wishing to extend the fun a
little longer can join in the group’s optional trip to Typhoon Texas for an
additional $35 (park admission, meal, bus transportation and drinks are
included in price) for a total camp cost of $165 ($190 after June 5 th ). The
KISD JH Summer Band Camp has been a huge success each year and we
anticipate a large enrollment again this year.
Camp participants will audition for summer band camp placement as
soon as they arrive for the first day of camp. Students should prepare
major scales specific to the student’s instrument and an audition etude
which can be downloaded from the webpage below. Students will be
ability grouped with the number of bands being determined by total
enrollment for the camp. Registration Form, Audition materials and

Travel/Emergency Treatment Consent Form can be downloaded by
campers from the Katy ISD Fine Arts Webpage www.katyisd.org/dept/
finearts. An email confirmation is sent out upon receipt of registration
and follow up reminders from the camp coordinator will be sent before
the camp begins, so make sure your email address is clearly printed on
the registration form.
The camp provides an economical and convenient alternative to those
who may not have had a chance to attend another band camp over the
summer due to scheduling and/or costs. Participants will receive top
quality instruction on their instruments from our own great KISD and
Houston area Band Directors. Join us for the sixteenth annual Katy ISD
Junior High Summer Band Camp and keep your playing skills sharp for
the year! Camp brochures, with the registration form, will be distributed
to KISD band students by their schools’ directors. Camp brochures can
also be downloaded from the Katy ISD Fine Arts webpage above. Plan to
register early in order to guarantee a spot! Again, registrations requests
made after June 29 th will need to follow special instructions outlined
earlier. If you have already registered and have not received your
confirmation email, contact kisdbandcamp2018@gmail.com to make
sure your registration has been received.
2018-2019 Transportation
Model And Bell Schedule
After careful consideration and review of feedback from 20,000 parents
and community members, the Board of Trustees approved a change to
the 2018-19 Katy ISD transportation model at the February 26 th Regular
Board Meeting.
Beginning this fall, Katy ISD campuses will transition to a multi-bell
schedule. However, criteria for transportation eligibility will remain the
same. Elementary students residing outside of a ½-mile radius of their
school and secondary students outside of a 1-mile radius, will continue
to be eligible for transportation services.

The 2018-19 transportation model will include four groups that will begin
and dismiss at different times of the school day. Elementary campuses
will be divided in two groups. Elementary Group 1 will begin school at 8
AM and dismiss at 3:20 PM and Elementary Group 2 will begin at 8:20 AM
and dismiss at 3:40 PM. All junior high campuses will begin at 8:45 AM and
dismiss at 3:55 PM. High school start and dismissal times (7:25 AM - 2:35
PM) will remain unchanged.
Katy ISD’s Transportation Department established routes and pairing
elementary schools to determine which campuses will be included in
Elementary Group 1 and Elementary Group 2. Information on the start
and end times for each elementary campus was presented to the Board
of Trustees at the Regular Meeting on April 23, 2018.
We greatly appreciate the guidance of our parents and community as the
2018-19 model was developed over these past few months. This model
will allow the District to provide the same level of service to families in
2018-19 while enabling us to utilize our drivers more efficiently, as well
as address safety concerns in areas of the District that are becoming
increasingly congested.
Katy ISD Announces Kickoff of
Bond 2017 Construction
Residents Voted For It.
Now It’ Is Time To Build It!!
Katy Independent School District is kicking off the construction of its
2017 bond projects. The community is now invited to witness the process
every step of the way through its newly designed, Build the Legacy
website. In it, the public can obtain project information, see designs,
track the status of construction and witness the progress of various
projects as they advance.
“I’m excited to see each project come to fruition for our students and
staff at Katy ISD,” said Lance Hindt, Superintendent of Katy ISD. “The
future is being built right before our eyes and we couldn’t have done it
without our community.”
The voter-approved $609.2 MM bond includes six new schools (one high
school, two junior highs and three elementary schools). Additionally, it
also covered a comprehensive renovation to Fielder Elementary School
and some much-needed improvements to 61 of our campuses. Ninetyone
(91%) of the bond is for school facilities and 9% is for technology and

Katy Community ‘Chip Clinic, a local non-profit, volunteer-run
organization is pleased to announce its spring schedule of upcoming
events to serve the needs of Katy-area residents. The organization
offers $10 microchipping for pets with FREE lifetime registration! What
is a microchip? A microchip is a rice-sized transponder that is injected
between a pet’s shoulder blades with a needle. When getting ‘chipped,
most animals don’t notice any difference from when receiving yearly
vaccinations. A microchip does NOT have a GPS locator on it, but as long
as the account is kept up-to-date, its number will be linked to the pet
owner’s contact information. The microchip account is easily accessible
online and pet owners can update as needed and even add pet’s photo
and veterinarian info. Pet owners do not need to live in the same town
as these upcoming events to take advantage of this service, but PLEASE
NOTE: cash only and MUST bring rabies certification paperwork (not just
the collar tag) - for volunteer and attendee safety. There is a limit of two
pets per family, unless pre-approved. Cats should be in a secure carrier
and dogs should be on a no-slip leash (please no retractable leashes). For

June 2nd -This summer, Galveston will host a
free, family friendly event series to help beachgoers
create spectacular sandcastles with tips
from the pros. Visitors to Stewart Beach can participate
in “Sandcastle Days” events to receive
free sandcastle building lessons from a professional
sandcastle builder. The events will take
place each Saturday this summer from June
2nd thru August 18th. Each event will begin with
an instructor building a sandcastle from 8-11
AM followed by lessons at 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM.
Equipment will be provided on a limited basis
and participants are encouraged to bring their
own sand buckets and shovels. Registration is
not required. The lessons will take place on the
sand near the Stewart Beach Pavilion. Stewart
Beach is located at 201 Seawall Blvd. It is home
to helicopter tours, a pavilion, volleyball courts,
a children’s playground, restrooms, showers,
chair and umbrella rentals and concessions.

Recipes
Garlic Shrimp Scampi
You could make this on National Shrimp Day May 10th!
INGREDIENTS:
1 (8 ounce) package angel hair pasta
1/2 cup butter
2 cloves garlic, sliced
1 1/2 pounds shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/3 cup white wine
3/4 cup dry bread crumbs
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add angel hair
pasta and return pot to boil. Cook until al dente. Drain well.
In a large saucepan, melt butter, saute garlic until tender,
remove garlic and discard. Add shrimp and cook until colored
pink. Stir in white wine. The bread crumbs are used as
thickening, so stir in a little at a time until desired thickness is
reached. Serve shrimp over angel hair pasta, sprinkled with
Parmesan cheese.

You could make this on National Eat What You Want Day May 11th!
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup sliced fresh peaches
3/4 cup peeled, cored and sliced apple
3/4 cup peeled, cored and sliced pear
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup pitted and sliced cherries
1/2 cup pitted and sliced plums
1 egg
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter, melted
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 2 quart baking
dish. Arrange the peaches, apple, pear, blueberries, cherries and plums
in the prepared baking dish. In a medium bowl, beat egg, sugar and
milk. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and salt; stir
into the egg mixture. Stir in vanilla and melted butter. Cover the fruit
with the batter mixture.
Bake 30 minutes in the preheated oven. Cobbler should be bubbly and
lightly browned. Serve warm.

How would you feel if you saved a kid’s life? StandUp For Kids is an
all volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of at-risk and

die on the streets from abuse, disease and suicide. According to recent

provides food, clothing, counseling and a safe environment for the

GARDENING TIPS FOR MAY
Warm weather means our gardens and landscapes are growing
fast. Here are some tasks to keep your landscape beautiful and
productive:
Flowers: Time to plant summer blooming perennials and annuals
including plumbago, zinnias, angelonia, purslane, lobularia, sunflowers,
yellow bells, pride of Barbados, duranta and bat-faced cuphea.
Vegetables: May is a great time to plant, from seed or nursery plants,
okra, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, winter squash, pumpkins, basil,
peppers, lima beans, eggplant, garlic chives and Malabar greens. If
you don’t want to dedicate an area of your yard, consider planting
here and there in your flowerbeds. Edible landscaping is a popular
new trend!
Lawns: Water 1/2 to 1” of irrigation per week. A rain gauge or straight
sided container (such as a tuna fish can) will help you know how long
to run your irrigation system to apply 1/2”.
Weeding: Hand pull or hoe weeds while they are still young or better
yet, maintain a 3” layer of mulch in all vegetable and flowerbeds to
deter weeds from getting a start.
Pruning: Remove spent blooms on spring and summer annuals to
promote new blooms.
