Green Trails II hosts many community-wide
events throughout the year such as, Snow
Day, Easter Egg Hunt, 4 th of July Parade
and Pool Party and Fall Festival. If you
interested in helping out with any of these
fun events or have ideas for new events,

EASTER EGG HUNT WAS A
HOPPING GOOD TIME!
A great time was had by all at the Annual Easter
Egg Hunt. There were games, bounce houses,
balloon artists, face painters, music, games
and even a special visit from the Easter Bunny
himself! The event was a huge success due
to the planning and coordination by Melissa
Wright and the Taylor NHS students who helped
the day of the event. Thanks to each of you for
your time and support of Green Trails!
MEET YOUR BOARD MEMBERS
The Association said goodbye to two Board
members and welcomed two new ones at the
annual meeting in February.
Elizabeth “Libby” Kaul Clark served on
the Board for 16 years, the past three as
president. For five of those years she was also
the landscape committee chair. During her
tenure, Libby worked to improve neighborhood
quality of life. Pavilions were added to
Crescent Green, Wisdom Woods, Gerri Ayers
and Park Cypress Parks. By partnering with
neighboring subdivisions, MUD districts and
Harris County, the Association was able to
add sidewalks along Kingsland, Fry, Crescent
Green, Park Cypress, Cypress Run and around
the Parkview detention pond. The Association
also contributed to the levee bike path leading
to Terry Hershey Park. Libby participated in the
initial planning meetings leading to the creation
of Treitsch Park and attended TXDOT meetings
on the I-10 expansion, successfully lobbying for
sound walls to buffer freeway noise.
Kristie Poldervaart joined the Board in 2008.
She began volunteering on the Green Trails
landscape committee in 2002 and became the
first Parks Chairman when it was spun-off from
the landscape committee in 2004. While on the
Board, Kristie was liaison to Parks, Pools, Swim
Team and the Community Events committees.
She instituted long-term budgeting and
scheduling for replacement and maintenance
of pool and park equipment. Kristie also
facilitated installation of the Desert Ivy Park
splash pad, shade structures in the pool areas
and expansion of the Gerri Ayers pool building.
Jim Castles and his family have lived in
Green Trails since 1996. He initially moved to
the Houston area in 1976, when he accepted
a position with Shell Oil Company after
graduating from Washington State University
with a bachelor’s degree in finance and
accounting. He subsequently earned an MBA
in finance from the University of Houston.
After 38 years with Shell and various Shell
affiliates in both Houston and New Orleans,
Jim retired in 2014 as Treasurer of Motiva
Enterprises, a joint venture between Shell
and Saudi Aramco. He was chairman of his
church’s finance council for more than twenty
years. Since retiring, Jim has also served as
a Board member and Treasurer of the Shell
Alumni Association of Greater Houston, an
organization with over 900 members. More
recently, he was appointed by the GTHOA
Board of Directors to fill the remainder of the
term vacated by Libby Kaul Clark at the Board’s
November 2017 meeting and was elected by
the Board as Treasurer and finance committee
liaison. Jim and his wife Mary Ellen have been
married for nearly 36 years and have four
adult children and two grandchildren.
Kelley O’Brien along with her husband,
Chris, have lived in Green Trails since
1999. She was born and raised in Houston.
Kelley began her teaching career in 1996
as an elementary classroom teacher. She
taught for 8 years prior to starting a family.
Kelley has served in many leadership roles
throughout the years from mom’s groups,
Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Girl
Scouts and National Charity League, Katy
Chapter. She has held multiple committee
chair and executive Board positions for the
Nottingham Country Elementary PTA since
2010. Currently, she is in her second year
serving as PTA President. She has served our
community as a part of the Green Trails Swim
Team Board since 2013 and has served as the
Green Trails Swim Team President since 2015.
She and her husband have been married for
20 years and have three children.
We appreciate the willingness of these
residents to serve our community.
