They are criminals, nevertheless —<br />
To wit, They must Concede<br />
While we refuse to Confess . . .<br />
So that Everytime<br />
You see THE POLICE having their way<br />
with someOne <strong>of</strong> us,<br />
Apprehended in their custody<br />
Thrown up against<br />
a building,<br />
Or their face<br />
against the pavement . . .<br />
You just walk on <strong>by</strong><br />
assUming that the Culprit<br />
is Guilty<br />
<strong>of</strong> some Crime,<br />
say , Even if<br />
it’s for possession<br />
<strong>of</strong> a dime-bag<br />
<strong>of</strong> weed,<br />
( . . . ‘though Racism<br />
is still Not Against the Law!<br />
— Not even for those<br />
paid to uphold the Law!<br />
Nor are Biased Crimes<br />
“A Thing <strong>of</strong> the Past!”<br />
in these,<br />
The most modernist <strong>of</strong> times!)<br />
Still the ghetto-man/child<br />
needs to be Corrected<br />
