<strong>BEYOND</strong> <strong>THE</strong> <strong>VERSE</strong><br />
HOPE'S EPITAPH<br />
The warm memories that began<br />
On a sweet November night,<br />
Lay rested on the mount of tonight.<br />
While I plant a creeper as an epitaph ,<br />
I sense a weak wriggle inside.<br />
As the pounding hope reaches<br />
To pull the earth apart,<br />
It was but just the humming of<br />
the creature ribbed inside<br />
The untold words of silence spoken<br />
from a far off land,<br />
Heard louder than those uttered with a<br />
Bleeding heart in hand.<br />
As the palms pat the earth in place,<br />
The creeper sets ready to take shape.<br />
Twirl around the entire mound with your vines,<br />
Cloak the cache that lay under your mine.<br />
And when you flower after two waxing moons,<br />
I wish it's emphatic silence<br />
Would grant me a boon.<br />
I would ask it ,<br />
The creeper on the epitaph as it spreads ,<br />
To teach me the craft of the trade of words<br />
For in the bungle of expression and fortitude,<br />
here lays quelled<br />
An entire history of brave certitude.<br />
