Prayer Meeting
Prayer Meeting will be held this Wednesday evening, May 2, at 7:00 pm. Our elementary
school students from Oakwood Adventist Academy (OAA) will present their
annual Spring Concert. We look forward to seeing you!
Stewardship Corner
The Apostle Paul had to acknowledge that in spite of his suffering for Christ’s sake,
God refused to grant him relief from the physical affliction that plagued him. Paul
called it “a thorn in my flesh” (2 Corinthians 12:7). More than once, Paul begged
God to remove this thing, but each time the Lord replied, “My grace is sufficient for
you, for My power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Part of accepting
God’s lordship in our lives is accepting with humility the trials He asks us to carry,
as well as the blessings. We dedicate our Tithe and Combined Budget Offering to
Him because we know that in all things He will be faithful.
Oakwood Adventist Academy (OAA) Building Project
Please be mindful of our financial commitment to the OAA Building Project. Given
our church obligation of $3,000,000.00, the OUC makes a monthly payment to satisfy
this commitment. Let us all support this collective responsibility through our systematic
financial support, which is in addition to our normal Tithe and Combined Budget
Offering. All donations, large or small, are sincerely appreciated. Kindly mark on
your offering envelope, “OAA Building Fund.”
“Restoration 40” - Family Life Center
Our Family Life Center is in full operation as ministries and services are daily being
offered in our new facility! We still, however, need your financial support to this
building project. Each member is kindly asked to reach a minimum goal of $1,000.00
for this project (in addition to your normal Tithe and Combined Budget Offering). If
you have reached your $1,000.00 goal, please feel free to give additional funds. Donations
can be made via your offering envelope and labeled, “Restoration 40.” All
donations are needed and sincerely appreciated.
Prayer Ministries
Please join our “Praying for Our Children” initiative each Wednesday evening from
6:00 to 7:00 pm in the Parents’ Room. Also, Prayer Warriors are needed. To join,
please call or text Stephanie Johnson Dingome at 256.479.9554, or send an email to
prayerministry@oucsda.org and provide your contact information.
Wedding Anniversary Recognition
Next Sabbath, May 5, we will acknowledge and recognize all March and April Wedding
Anniversaries. If your Wedding Anniversary is in either of these two months,
please be sure to submit your wedding information to Dr. Belvia Matthews
(belviamatthews@gmail.com) or Dr. Eveythe Cargill (eveythe@live.com).
United States who are worshipping with us today!
Spring into Praise Musical Concert
Musical Concert featuring multiple choirs and singers including the Oakwood University
(OU) Aeolians, Dynamic Praise, Voices of Triumph, the OUC Voices of Inspiration, First
Church Inspirational Choir, the Spring into Praise Mass Choir, Geoffrey Golden, and
Church Social
This evening, April 28, immediately following the “Spring into Praise” Musical Concert
(at sunset), all are invited to join us for a Church-Wide Social spearheaded by our New
Members’ Ministries Department! There will be food, fun, and fellowship for everyone!
New Sabbath School Class for Infants
Beginning today, April 28, and every fourth Sabbath of the month, there will be a special
Sabbath School Class for infants and their parent(s). This class will provide ageappropriate
activities for infants (birth to 12 months). Additionally, ideas will be shared
on collaborative efforts between the Children’s Sabbath School Department and the home.
