In today's world, integrating technology
into skills development is quite crucial
and after 13 years of enabling lives through
basic skills development. Silo has proved to
itself that it is possible to achieve any goal,
which saw it's management taking upon a
new direction through upgrading it's service
offerings and premises by taking on the Skill
Exchange Makerspace model to prepare the
Vaal Triangle community for 4th industrial
evolution of skills.
Silo is a teachable, flexible and eager to learn group of problem-solvers who acknowledge
the need for change much like most NPO's who are stuck in solving issues that are tied
towards addressing the skills gap instead of addressing the opportunity gap imposed by
this skills-gap. Which compels joining this great upcoming organisation led by very
young people who have a greater incentive in shaping the next generation of social
entrepreneurs by transforming the change-agents at the root level. This is completely
breath-taking to have young people at the forefront of re-positioning how they learn.
And having NPO's as anchors for this new route show's their forethought on what their
emminent outcome oath to be. Taking what’s already working and advancing it much
like what we do.
This initiative supported by a socio-economic ecosystem of SME's, NGO's, NPO's
and corporate South Africa is a sustainable effort of integrating sectors for the
common purpose of advancing skills for better career opportunities and an
altruistic approach to real world problem-solving.
We will show the world the importance of learning willingly from one another and
taking our creative concepts further to the entire world. This is the next economy 7and
we will lead a thriving South African youth into this change.

equipping many single parents, mother’s, senior citizen’s and the youth with the skills and mind-set of
establishing businesses, furthering education, obtaining employment & ploughing back. But above all,
you have granted us the opportunity to further learn how best to serve South Africa as a whole. With the

Integrating old and new ways helps us translate different angles of
teaching and doing. Which is why having environments with the
capabilities of what Skill Exchange Makerspace is developing at Silo as
the pilot organization is crucial to the maturity of sustainable economic
activity and opportunity.
Skill Exchange recognizes that for Africa, as a continent to achieve a
reduction in poverty, more people need to have access to both a theory
guided project & problem-based learning and soft skills training to
develop skills that will lead to work readiness not only for the present
work needs, but for the future. This includes underprivileged groups,
which are traditionally under-represented in skills training which is
why our establishments are in townships and rural areas.
Skill Exchange Makerspace’s are modern workshops equipped with
technology infrastructure designed to accelerate professional
development, performance & creativity for high school and university
10 graduates.

practices aligned to
theoretical knowledge (Work
Integrated Learning);
nancial and emotional
independence; a safe and
collaborative environment to
express ideas; tangible
support for growth; and an
alignment of activities with

real world solutions to socioeconomic
issues through
project-based learning.

“Understanding the role which women play in our society, is understanding the need for
creating better ecosystems- places in which we thrive, the ones we call home”. More
especially in South Africa’s township which till today host’s the bedrock of this country’s
service industry. This industry has been a key offering in one of our ways of to empower our
community. These pictures illustrate our management showing appreciation for:
-9 Years volunteerism without stipend or any payment

-Sharing views, time values with others and increasing opportunity for skills development.

Crime" organised by Silo in Partnership with the Sebokeng SAPS & CPF.

une 16, marks an important milestone for the youth of this nation. The best
way for Silo to commemorate the people we've lost this date to is through
dedicating our actions to making real change and for us was to build works of
Jart, perform the arts and show our art.
