That’s how Gino Paolo
Luis Villanueva, 31, from
Mandaluyong, describes
his Love Life Retreat
experience to Kathrina
Labra.
As a regular Feaster, I’ve
come to accept that trials
and sufferings are inevitable and will always be
part of my life. At the Feast, we are taught that we
should hold on to God all the more when burdened
with problems.
Knowing is one thing and applying it in life is
another. One Sunday in July 2015, I learned to apply
that. My feelings of inadequacy at work spiked up
again and with my dad suffering a stroke, I felt the
world on my shoulders. I prayed, “Lord, this is all too
much to bear.”
Then as if on cue, FBA’s Love Life Retreat Batch
14 was flashed onscreen. I knew right away what I
had to do so I signed up for the two-day retreat for
singles like me.
Amazing Two Days
Arriving at the venue in Tagaytay, I found the
people friendly and accommodating and the
place beautiful with the garden and all.
When we were grouped together, I found myself
with guys working in the same field as I was. I was
able to relate to their stories and picked up some
good points from the experiences they shared.
What was most amazing was that I heard from the
talks and stories the advice I needed to hear to
help me in my current situation. I knew then, God
really wanted me to be there.
I’m really glad I went for I was already on the
verge of depression. Thanks to LLR, all my fears,
worries and doubts were washed away.
Also, at the retreat, I understood my purpose
in life – to inspire, motivate, and help change lives
through sharing of my life experience, my talent in
dancing, and teaching.
That weekend, through the people around me,
God told me that I should not be distracted by
the noise of the world – pressure, self-doubt and
society’s judgment – because I was born in His
image and likeness. In His eyes, I am worthy. And
that the talent He has given me is a seed that I
need to cultivate.
Doors of Opportunity
Soon enough, the
doors of opportunity
opened wide for me. I
received a salary increase
in the amount I asked
for. I was introduced to
Bro. Didoy Lubaton of
The Feast Mall of Asia
and later, joined Dance
Ministry to fulfill my
passion in dancing. Then, I
accomplished my dream
to join an international
dance class in Korea.
Let me end with this:
Allow God to work in your
life. Don’t be afraid to open
yourself up to the blessings
He has in store for you.
