Where's the Fire?
”I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper,
who will stay with you forever. He is the Spirit, who reveals
the truth about God. The world cannot receive him, because
it cannot see him or know him. But you know him,
because he remains with you and is in you.”
–John 14:16-17 GNT

In ancient Israel, the Jerusalem Temple had a blazing
fire on its altar 24 hours a day. So that, sacrifices can
be offered to God constantly.
The Bible says that you’re the Temple of the Holy
Spirit.
Let me ask you a question: If you’re a Temple, do
you have a 24-hour fire burning within you as well?
Or is it all cold and dark in your soul?
If there’s no fire, that means there are no
sacrifices either. You’ve become comfortable. You’ve
lost your edge. You’ve settled into a rut.
If there are no sacrifices anymore, you have
stopped changing. And if you stopped changing,
you’ve stop growing. And if you stopped growing,
you’ve started dying.
You become less a Temple and more of a
religious Museum.
I’ve travelled in Europe and I’ve seen how
beautiful churches are turned into lifeless museums.
Because worshippers have been replaced by tourists.
The difference? Worshippers focus on God. Tourists
take photos of themselves.
I pray that His fire blazes in our hearts anew.

And the little boy replied, “I’m flying my kite.”
The man immediately looked up and saw nothing
but clouds. He turned to the boy and said, “I don’t see
it. How do you know it’s up there?”
The little boy smiled and replied, “Because I can
sense it.”
That’s how the Holy Spirit works. You can’t see it
but you can sense it.

my Journey to
Self-Discovery
That’s how Gino Paolo
Luis Villanueva, 31, from
Mandaluyong, describes
his Love Life Retreat
experience to Kathrina
Labra.
As a regular Feaster, I’ve
come to accept that trials
and sufferings are inevitable and will always be
part of my life. At the Feast, we are taught that we
should hold on to God all the more when burdened
with problems.
Knowing is one thing and applying it in life is
another. One Sunday in July 2015, I learned to apply
that. My feelings of inadequacy at work spiked up
again and with my dad suffering a stroke, I felt the
world on my shoulders. I prayed, “Lord, this is all too
much to bear.”
Then as if on cue, FBA’s Love Life Retreat Batch
14 was flashed onscreen. I knew right away what I
had to do so I signed up for the two-day retreat for
singles like me.
Amazing Two Days
Arriving at the venue in Tagaytay, I found the
people friendly and accommodating and the
place beautiful with the garden and all.
When we were grouped together, I found myself
with guys working in the same field as I was. I was
able to relate to their stories and picked up some
good points from the experiences they shared.
What was most amazing was that I heard from the
talks and stories the advice I needed to hear to
help me in my current situation. I knew then, God
really wanted me to be there.
I’m really glad I went for I was already on the
verge of depression. Thanks to LLR, all my fears,
worries and doubts were washed away.
Also, at the retreat, I understood my purpose
in life – to inspire, motivate, and help change lives
through sharing of my life experience, my talent in
dancing, and teaching.
That weekend, through the people around me,
God told me that I should not be distracted by
the noise of the world – pressure, self-doubt and
society’s judgment – because I was born in His
image and likeness. In His eyes, I am worthy. And
that the talent He has given me is a seed that I
need to cultivate.
Doors of Opportunity
Soon enough, the
doors of opportunity
opened wide for me. I
received a salary increase
in the amount I asked
for. I was introduced to
Bro. Didoy Lubaton of
The Feast Mall of Asia
and later, joined Dance
Ministry to fulfill my
passion in dancing. Then, I
accomplished my dream
to join an international
dance class in Korea.
Let me end with this:
Allow God to work in your
life. Don’t be afraid to open
yourself up to the blessings
He has in store for you.

When God cuts from our lives those that we
deem important, we resent Him. It becomes
difficult to believe Him and to trust that He
has a plan for us. But if we remain in Him,
we will find ourselves bearing fruits, even in
unexpected seasons.
Series:
OFW: Overcoming Family
Worries
Humans are designed to feel emotions
and experience them fully, including pain.
Pain is necessary as it is our signal that
something is wrong. But we shouldn’t dwell
too much on it for when we do, we are
unable to see beyond it.
Can anything be borne out of our
pain? The good news is: God has much
more in store for us beyond our sufferings.
The place of our greatest pain can be
the place of our greatest progress. Take
Atacama Desert, considered to be the
driest place in the world. People only saw
the nothingness of the vast land and
didn’t see the tiny seeds buried in the
sand, which suddenly grew into a beautiful
garden when the rain poured after years
of drought.
BIG DAY
Big Message: There is more.
In the same way, God is planting seeds in
us because He wants us to prosper.
Stop paying attention to the pain.
Start paying attention to the progress.
When we see beyond the negativity, our
perspective in life changes. We see more
of the blessings. We see more of our
strength than our struggles. The place
of pain suddenly becomes a place of
potential.
Look at the future. Focus on the finish
line. Sometimes, we feel like giving up
when life seems messed up. But know that
there is something beyond our troubles.
Abundance awaits us. God has planned
something greater for us than what we
have planned for ourselves.

The Lord wants us to be united to Him to help
us bear fruits – to help give life to others and
allow them to bond with Him as well.

Talk 3: Home and
Community
• Imperfect family. Our moms and dads
have their own shortcomings but almost
always, they sacrifice to give us the best.
Spend quality time with your parents
for no one can tell how long they will be
with us.
• Following God is messy. Jesus asks us
to trust and surrender to Him. Let go and
let Him have His way on us for our sake.
Hang out with positive friends. Join an
FBA light group.
• Building a relationship with Him. The
Lord tells us to build bridges instead of
walls for He doesn’t want His love to be
limited to some, as it is for all. And great
relationships are based on trust not just
forgiveness.
