Sir John started<br />
negotiating<br />
for independence in<br />
1974.<br />
His views were<br />
conservative.<br />
He had the innate<br />
tendency to support<br />
the working class and<br />
look out for their<br />
needs. Hence he<br />
overwhelmingly garn<br />
ered the support of<br />
the 'common' people.
