How wonderful. It's always helpful and
perhaps necessary to have that one person
in your corner.
Beautiful and powerful. Where do you get
your inspiration from?
I listen to motivational speakers a lot.
Among them – Les Brown, Will Smith, T.
D. Jakes.
You are indeed multi-talented. Let's talk
Kaiso, one of my favorite art forms. From
the very first moment I heard your songs
and I saw you perform I became an instant
fan. How did you get into Kaiso?
Kaiso! I just love Kaiso. Kaiso is a part of our
culture. I participated in junior calypso one
year, I think I was in Form 2 at the time. And
so it has always been something I wanted to
do. From the first tent experience I already
knew I would have gone back.
Oh, so 2017 wasn't your first time
competing on the national level?
My first experience, I didn’t really
understand the game. Well, I still don’t but
let's say I didn’t understand how to get
around. The first time around I did a socalike
song and I probably did it a week before
competition. At the time I knew nothing
about voice maturity. All I knew was just
how to let it out, how to sing.
This year was a better year because with age
you're a little more mature and so is your
voice. After the first experience I knew that
hey, I have to try doing this stuff differently.
And then I got a very good manager, Allison
Joseph. Ms. Allison Joseph was like an extra
boost for me. She boosts my confidence and
made sure that I was looking my best and
doing my best.
