BOAT TRADER ADVERTORIAL
Go Earth, a content contributor to Boat Trader,
were also in attendance and our very own
Chantelle was delighted to meet up with them
on their stand. They have a unique business
model acting as a third party in sourcing the
boat of your dreams. They aren’t brokers that
try to sell you something that they have in stock
but negotiate the best price and handle all of the
legalities in buying a boat; it’s like they act as
your consultant. I can see this company making
leaps and bounds within the marketplace and
if you have limited knowledge in buying a boat
then you should speak to these guys.
The big players were in town as well, and I
was eagerly waiting to see the premier launch
of Sunseeker’s new 76 Yacht and, wow, it is
impressive. It’s described as the ultimate social
and entertaining model with comfort being
paramount. On speaking to Sunseeker, they
explained it was a natural progression from
their incredibly successful Sunseeker 75 Yacht.
Having taken a proper look round this vessel, I
was particularly impressed with the open glass
skylight over the lower helm, and the quality
of the build is exactly what you expect from
Sunseeker; simply the best in its class. Although
the cost of a Sunseeker is high, it never
surprises me the amount of people that are keen
to get their hands on one and this year was no
different, especially with a new model launch.
I felt it would have been wrong not to visit
Princess and I was so glad I took the trouble.
I’ve been a fan of the Princess range since my
father bought a 32 back in the 70’s! I didn’t have
the time in a single day to view all twelve models
but particularly wanted to view the world debut
of the Princess 55. It has to be seen to be
believed, but it consists of three cabins with
a full beam ensuite master stateroom and an
incredibly impressive flybridge for the ultimate
experience in alfresco dining. The pontoon was
busy from the moment I arrived until I left, and I
eagerly await the press report from Princess as
to how the show panned out for them, and the
number of orders they sealed at the show.
Most readers are probably aware that I am an
angler and enjoy nothing more than a day afloat
chasing my quarry for the table. Several years
ago, I met Michael and Anne, proprietors of MB
Boats, that are based in Cowes on the Isle of
Wight. It was lovely to see them again and to
contemplate the purchase of a Sea Spray. I’m a
married man with 2 young children and certainly
not in a position to have an extravagant
expensive hobby, however, I think it’s only a
matter of time before I purchase one of their
models.
The basic boat costs £5,250 and with a trailer
and Mariner 60 ELPT, it will only set you back
£13,454. If you can’t afford a boat, I would
strongly suggest that you speak with Steve
Rodwell from Boat Club Trafalgar; they have a
boat club that includes a Finnmaster Pilot 7 and
a Beneteau Barracuda 7 within their fleet. Based
down on the Solent, you have every opportunity
to get afloat and with membership fees that are
affordable, it provides a great service.
I wrote an article regarding Takacat catamarans
last year and I’m still really impressed with
these small little crafts that are just the perfect
platform for inshore sea fishing. I keep looking
at them and come the spring, I’m sure the run
of the place will tempt me to part with my cash
especially since Paul, MD of Hypro Marine,
explained the differences in the newly released
model.
Finally, it’s always a pleasure to meet new
potential customers at any show and Boat
Trader is delighted to have met Blue Marine
who specialise in cleaning, restoration and
maintenance products that are composed of
vegetable and mineral origin. In accordance
with EC standards, all of their products are
easily and quickly biodegradable with levels of
biodegradability nearing one-hundred-percent.
This is great news for the industry as we are
under fire from many about the pollution of our
seas and oceans.
Without a doubt, our seas have become
polluted with toxins and plastics and, over
the last twenty years, Blue Marine has been
developing products that will ensure the
environment is protected to a better standard
than it is currently. I certainly will be using them
and urging others to at least take a look at
their products and what benefits they have in
safeguarding our environment.
