In Memoriam Beverly Minkin Addison Beverly Minkin Addison, of Santa Monica, Calif., formerly of Winnetka, died peacefully March 3 in her home surrounded by family. She was 90. Addison was born on Aug. 20, Addison 1927, in Omaha, Neb. She was a graduate of Central High School in Omaha and the University of Minnesota. On Valentine’s Day in 1955, she met Dr. Robert George Addison in Chicago. It was love at first sight and they married six weeks later. Together, they had four daughters, Elizabeth, Nancy, Benita and Susan. The Addisons raised their family in Chicago, Evanston and Winnetka. They also had a beloved winter home near Sarasota, Fla. Dedicated to her family, friends and home, Addison was an avid reader, a lifelong learner and a New York Times crossword puzzle aficionado. She loved traveling with her husband and enjoyed long walks along the Longboat Key beaches and the Chicago lakeshore. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, who credited his professional and academic achievements to Addison’s substantive and loving support. They were a team and his successes were hers, too. Addison is survived by four daughters, eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. At Addison’s request, no memorial is planned at this time. Janet Ann Davies Janet Ann Davies, a New Trier graduate, died May 6 at her home in Austin, Texas. She was 82. She graduated from New Trier High School and went on to the University of New Davies Mexico, graduating in 1957. She was a Spanish major and also spoke Portuguese, Italian, French and German. She and her husband, Morris Davies, Jr., were married on April 27, 1963, and lived for many happy years in Georgetown, Md., where they raised their family. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. She was an avid collector of antique dolls and the founding president of the Eastern Shore Doll Study Club, a member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs. Davies is survived by Morris Davies, Jr., four children and four grandchildren. Charlene Duncan Charlene Devine Duncan died April 24 at 86. She and her younger brother, Jim, were raised in Winnetka by their parents, Duncan Claire and Charles Devine. She graduated from New Trier High School, received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Scripps College in Claremont, Calif., and earned a master of foreign trade from Arizona State University. After college, she briefly lived and worked in San Francisco where she made many lifelong friends. She returned to Southern California, married and later divorced Will C. Duncan (deceased) and lived in Pasadena, Calif. for most of her life. Duncan raised four children and had a successful career as a nursing home administrator in Southern California for more than 20 years. In 2004, she relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area to be closer to her family. She loved to travel and enjoyed cruises to Tahiti, Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Duncan is survived by her brother, three surviving children and seven grandchildren. Marjorie Reed Marjorie Lindsay Reed died May 1 at her home in Lake Forest at the age of 96. She was born in Winnetka on April 25, 1922, the fourth of five children of Martin and Margaret Barth Lindsay. She was preceded in Reed death by her husband, John Shedd Reed, in 2008. She attended North Shore Country Day School and graduated from the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, Pa. in 1939, where she was a three-sport athlete (field hockey, tennis and basketball) and recognized as a White Blazer Award winner. In 2016, she was elected a member of The Baldwin School’s Athletic Hall of Fame. She later graduated from Vassar College in 1943. After marrying a railroad man in May 1946, they eventually settled in Lake Forest in 1955. Throughout her life, she retained an avid interest in sports, particularly on the golf course and tennis court. She patiently taught three generations of her family how to grip a racquet and perfect a backhand, often on the same Pine Lake court where she spent her childhood summers in Wisconsin. With her husband, she explored France on 25 annual bicycle trips, logging hundreds of miles. Her love of sports and the outdoors was matched by a deep interest in philosophy and religion. Her civic involvement included years devoted to the Infant Welfare Society and serving on the board of trustees of Lake Forest Country Day School. She was an honorary trustee of John G. Shedd Aquarium and was a devoted patron of Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She is survived by five children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Gisela Elisabeth Rill Gisela Elisabeth Rill, 95, of Northfield, died May 1. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Mathias Rill; loving mother of Dr. Peter, Andrew (Lynn), Thomas (Maria), Phil; cherished grandmother of Nickolaus, Elisabeth, Meghan, Christopher and Caitlin; and dear sister of Franz Gunter, the late Peter and Rudolf Stricker. Memorial visitation and mass were held May 4 at St. Philip the Apostle Church in Northfield. Mary Allen Stine Mary (Dale) Allen Stine, 81 of Maitland, Fla., died May 2 under hospice care after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She graduated from New Trier Stine High School and attended Lawrence University and Lake Forest College, where she met the love of her life, Jay Stine, whom she married in 1956. In May of 1967, the couple and their four children moved from Glenview to Winter Park. She managed Winter Park’s Bargain Box thrift store for several years. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Jay C. Stine, two brothers, four children, three grandchildren and her beloved bichon, Boomer. Have someone’s life you’d like to honor?
