Music Theater
Works builds youth
confidence on stage
For the past 17 summers,
children ages 8-13 have
learned about musical theater
firsthand at Music Theater
Works in Wilmette.
“I think it was Lucy who
convinced me we really had
a good thing going,” said
General Manager Bridget
McDonough when asked
about her favorite memories
of the company’s summer
workshop programs.
“Lucy was a sassier, more
self-assured Nathan Detroit
in ‘Guys and Dolls’ than
any 10-year-old little redhaired
girl had a right to be!
“I was flabbergasted
when I found out later
that on the first day of the
workshop, Lucy’s mom
approached our director to
say her daughter had never
been on stage before and
might need a little extra
coaching and coaxing to
get over her shyness. Believe
me, on stage that girl
was not shy!”
Performing offers so
many benefits to young
people — it builds confidence,
enhances observational
and analytical skills,
fosters teamwork, and,
above all, is a lot of fun.
At Music Theater Works,
children get to sing, dance
and act in a nurturing and
fun atmosphere. No experience
or audition is required,
and everyone gets a part.
“Our staff does a wonderful
job giving each of
the kids their moment to
shine, regardless of their
experience level,” Mc-
Donough said.
Young people ages 8-13
learn from professional
actors and counselors to
prepare a performance of a
mini-musical.
“You’d be amazed at
what these kids accomplish
in only six days,”
McDonough said. “I know
Lucy’s parents were!”
Five separate one-week
workshops will be offered
this summer, based
on popular musicals. Each
workshop is from 9 a.m.-
3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday
at the Music Theater Works
rehearsal center, 516 4th
St., Wilmette. On Saturday,
students gather for a
final dress rehearsal at 1
p.m. and offer a free public
performance for family and
friends at 4 p.m.
2018 schedule:
• “The Sound of Music”
(Sold out)
• “Oklahoma!” July 16-21
• “The Addams Family”
July 23-28
• “Once Upon a Mattress.”
July 30-Aug. 4
• “Mary Poppins” (Sold
out)
The fee is $380 per student
per workshop. Scholarships
are available based
on need.
In addition, a staged
summer teen production
of Cole Porter’s “Anything
Goes” is offered for ages
13-18 (June 11-29, with
performance at 7:30 p.m.
on June 29). Each role is
individually cast from auditions.
The production
features professional costumes,
sound and lighting.
Fee is $1,275 per student.
Glencoe’s vibrant history, the Village has
partnered with the Glencoe Historical Society
activities. The celebration will include
four main elements: education, celebration,
participation and appreciation.
Here’s a preview of what to look forward
to in 2019:
Society will be working to digitize the
community’s history making it accessible
to generations to come.
photo and first name on social media. If
you’re sharing about the celebration be
sure to use the hashtags #Glencoe150
and #MyTownGlencoe.
• Sesquicentennial Gala (Oct. 19, 2019)
– The Sesquicentennial Planning Committee
will host an evening to remember
at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
Participation
Glencoe residents will be asked to dedicate
150 minutes to volunteer in some capacity
within or representing Glencoe.
in defining, designing and securing
funding for a legacy project to mark the
milestone for generations to enjoy. Stay
At Pascal Pour Elle, that
with the front desk.
The front desk coordinators
have the knowledge,
patience, training and experience
to assist the clients,
North Shore Art League,
the 94-year-old arts organization
located in Winnetka,
will be bringing its
national juried show, Art
in the Village, to Winnetka’s
Hubbard Woods Park
again this summer.
On June 23 and June 24,
the park will be bustling
with artists from across the
country exhibiting their
works to enthusiastic art
lovers. The park is a beautiful
setting for a summer
art fair, right in the middle
of the Village’s Hubbard
Woods Design District.
This boutique show will
have more than 65 artists
from across the country
exhibiting their works.
League faculty member
Lisa DePinto will be back
painting quick oil portraits.
Local food vendors will
also be on site with their
delicious offerings. Conveniently
located along
Green Bay Road, there is
plenty of free parking.
The league is locally
well-known as an art
school and arts organization,
with close ties to the
Art Institute of Chicago,
Columbia College Chicago
and many art galleries,
schools and institutions
throughout the area. This
fifth annual Art in the Village
show is always wellreceived
by the village and
surrounding communities
that appreciate fine art.
At the time it was
founded, the league was
one of the original arts
organizations in the country.
League members organized
the popular Old
Orchard Art Fair in Skokie
in the ’50s (which ran for
more than 45 years under
NSAL leadership) and the
New Horizons Art Shows
held in Chicago during the
’60s and ’70s. Bringing
this fair to Hubbard Woods
Park is like a homecoming
of sorts as one of our
very first outdoor shows in
1955 was held in that same
park.
The league hopes to see
you there this summer!
Christian education
meets interactive
kids programming
Seeds of Grace, a preschool
and Christian child
development center in
Northbrook, is a nonprofit
ministry of Grace Evangelical
Lutheran Church,
which is dedicated to providing
a childcare program
of the highest quality designed
to meet the needs
of today’s parents. The
school has been built on a
rich tradition of Christian
education for the past 50
years, and most recently,
the success of its 32-year
tradition of the beloved
Mustard Seed Preschool
programs.
At Seeds of Grace, each
child is guided to develop
to his/her potential in every
aspect of life within the
sheltering and nurturing
relationships of Christian
love. The center operates
assuming each child is an
individual and must be allowed
to grow and learn at
his/her own rate in order to
develop a healthy self-image.
It is the goal of Seeds
of Grace to help each child
to grow spiritually, emotionally,
physically, socially
and intellectually in
their own unique way. By
encouraging a strong sense
of balance and trust, Seeds
of Grace believes the center
will make a lifelong
difference with the children
and families in the
communities it serves.
The Seeds of Grace program
of early childhood
education includes daily
teaching activities, storytelling
and books, math,
science, music and movement,
indoor and outdoor
play, and Jesus time, as
well as weekly chapel
opportunities that are offered
in an informational,
home-like environment.
Your child will be guided
to start taking part in small
and large group activities
throughout a typical
classroom day. This combination
of experiences
will broaden your child’s
aptitude for future schoolwork,
while allowing freedom
for imagination and
creativity.
It is the goal of the Seeds
of Grace curriculum to include
opportunities for
growth in all major developmental
areas, as well
as, creating a place where
your children will feel
happy, secure and loved.
This year, Seeds of
Grace Christian Child
Development Center invites
you to join for Summer
Camp on Demand
as the center finds itself
S.T.R.E.A.M.ing into the
lazy days of summer. Children
ages 6-12 are welcome
to come along as the
center channels its energy
for an exciting 10-week
summer camp journey.
Children will investigate
and experience a variety
of topics each week
during camp. Additional
S.T.R.E.A.M. (science,
technology, religion, engineering,
arts and math) activities
will be emphasized
throughout the summer to
allow children to discover
and explore God’s amazing
world around them.
Camp experiences will engage
children in fine arts,
athletics, games, projects
and good old-fashioned
summertime fun. Summer
camp days will also be enriched
with field trips, inschool
shows, team building
challenges and weekly
water play days every Friday.
Seeds of Grace looks
forward to making great
discoveries together about
the amazing world all
around us. Get your shoes
Northfield
Township kicks
hunger to the curb
The Northfield Township
Food Pantry believes that
hunger is unacceptable in
the community. For more
than 45 years, the Northfield
Township Food Pantry has
been providing assistance
to residents of Glenview,
Northbrook and Northfield
who are unable to provide
enough food for themselves
and their families.
Food insecurity is a very
real problem facing many
township neighbors and
their children, and it is not
a seasonal issue. Residents
who are struggling to provide
enough food for their
families in the winter will
likely face those same
struggles during the summertime.
Today, more than 1,700
township residents are
able to visit the pantry
each month to select perishable
and nonperishable
food items that best meet
their families’ needs and
to receive grocery store
gift cards. The Northfield
Township Food Pantry is
truly a community pantry,
entirely dependent on contributions
for everything it
distributes.
No tax dollars are used
to supply the pantry.
Thanks to the generosity
of financial and food donors
and a dedicated corps
of volunteers, the pantry
provides essential support
to residents who are experiencing
hard times.
The pantry’s annual fundraiser,
Pantry Palooza,
will immediately follow
Glenview’s Summerfest
on June 30 in the downtown
Glenview Metra
parking lot from 5:30-
10:30 p.m. Headliner
97Nine will provide live
music, Pizano’s Pizza
food trucks will be selling
foods, and drinks will be
available for purchase. For
just $10 per person at the
door, guests can have a fun
evening out while helping
the community.
The pantry is located
at 2550 Waukegan Road,
Suite 100 in Glenview and
is open for donations from
The Winnetka Music Festival wowed
Chicago’s summer music scene in last
year’s debut, and this year for Father’s
Day weekend, it’s back — bigger and
better.
This premiere emerging artist showcase
features 27 of the top indie acts from
across the globe that will
perform across five stages
throughout Winnetka. These
artists, coupled with an array
of street buskers, will bring
new music around every corner
to the fans.
Adjacent to Metra’s Winnetka
station, it’s fun and family
friendly. But, the best part
may be the free admission.
The Winnetka Music Festival
opens June 15 with a
concert featuring four bands ranging from
country and rock to EDM, headlined by A
Thousand Horses.
Throughout the day and into the night
on June 16, the BMO Harris, Fields Auto
Group and the Chicago Cubs stages, as
well as the Hudson Company family
stage and the Lululemon/Spynergy chapel
stage, will host an ongoing lineup,
exclusively curated by music industry
tastemaker Val Haller, Winnetka resident
and CEO/founder of Valslist. A partial
main stage roster includes Walker
County, ASHE, Win + Woo, Andrew
Belle, COBI, and the Seratones. Hot off
of her highly acclaimed Storm Tour, ZZ
Ward will wrap up the festival with a
must-see finale performance.
The Winnetka Music Festival’s new
layout will include enhancements, such as
18 additional food trucks and food courts,
merchandise tables, more craft beer and
wine options, and an additional
main stage in the heart
of Winnetka. There will also
be engaging crafts and activities
for kids between sets.
For those who want a VIP
experience, a limited number
of tickets are being sold
for the Jim Beam Lounge,
which provides a haven from
the crowds, direct access and
premium seating for viewing
the headliners on the Chicago
Cubs Stage.
The Winnetka Music Festival is easily
accessible via the CTA, Metra and Green
Bay Trail. Bike stations are also available.
The Winnetka Music Festival is a true
community effort. Volunteers and sponsors
are vital to its success. The festival
is created by the Village of Winnetka,
Valslist, the Winnetka-Northfield Chamber
of Commerce and the Winnetka Park
District.
Regina international homestay
program makes the North Shore home
Many families would
welcome a once-in-a-lifetime
cultural experience
they will always remember,
usually by visiting
distant places, learning
new languages, trying new
foods and meeting new
people.
What if you could have
all of that amazing cultural
exchange and learning
experience without ever
leaving the comfort of
your home? Becoming a
host family for an international
student can do just
that, and will change your
life and family forever.
Driven by this common
purpose, Cambridge Network
enables people to
expand their perspectives
through cross-cultural
learning. This is at the
core of the homestay program
at Regina Dominican
High School in Wilmette,
and is made possible with
Cambridge Network, an
all-inclusive international
student service provider
supporting students, families
and schools.
Currently, a community
of international students
attending Regina Dominican
continues to grow and
the program will be expanding
for the 2017-2018
school year. Qualified and
caring host families are
welcomed on a rolling basis
throughout the academic
year to open their home
to an international student.
Students from around the
world enjoy participating
and learning more about
American culture. In turn,
families learn about a different
cultural way of life
and make a lifelong friend.
Cambridge Network
provides on-call support to
students, hosts and member
schools, striving to uphold
high safety standards
set forth by the Council on
Standards for International
Educational Travel, a professional
member association
committed to quality
international educational
travel and exchange for
youth at the high-school
level. Cambridge Network
has a long achieved, full
listing accreditation with
CSIET through its rigorous
annual audit process.
Building a sense of community
between hosts and
students is key to a successful
cross-cultural exchange.
Cambridge Network
hosts are qualified
and loving community
residents who provide a
private room, meals and
transportation for each
student. Approved Cambridge
Network families
host a student for one or
two semesters and may
welcome the same student
in subsequent school
years.
Cambridge Network
host families receive a
monthly stipend of $1,000
per student to offset expenses
incurred by adding
another person to the
home. Additional host
family support services include
access to an assigned
local coordinator, emergency
assistance when
needed, and professional
services from bilingual
and bicultural staff should
a situation require escalation
beyond local support.
Host families take part in
orientations and events
provided by Cambridge
Network designed to develop
a supportive local
community.
Lake Forest art show to ring in Labor Day
The 64th Annual Art Fair on the Square, the
signature event for the Deer Path Art League,
is the organization’s gift to the community.
The two-day, juried fine art show, located in
the historic Lake Forest Market Square, attracts
more than 20,000 attendees, is free to
the public and celebrates the individual artisan.
This year, the event will be held from 10
a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday-Monday, Sept. 3-4.
Last year, nearly 400 national and international
artists applied to participate. The
selected 180 exhibitors work in a variety of
disciplines, including ceramics, digital art,
drawing/pastels, fiber, glass, graphics/printmaking,
jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting,
photography, sculpture and wood.
Featured specialty booths will include the
entrepreneurial Young Artists area with artisanal
crafts, the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff
Artslink tent highlighting more than 20 community
arts nonprofits, live music at the Lake
Forest Train Station, and the Information
Tent, which details Deer Path Art League
programming.
For more than 64 years, the nonprofit Deer
Path Art League has been dedicated to the
creation and appreciation of art through a
variety of classes and summer art camps at
Gorton Community Center, exhibiting the
Emerging Artist Exhibit featuring 13 area
pre-kindergarten through grade 12 schools,
and the awarding of a scholarship at Lake
Forest High School.
Hosting the Art Fair helps to fulfill the Art
League mission to “spark, nurture and enhance
creativity as well as raise community
awareness and appreciation of the arts,” a
mission which is as true today as it was in
1954.
The Deer Path Art League hopes to see you
there to help celebrate the tradition of supporting
the arts on the North Shore.
Awakenings Holistic Wellness promotes
health through hands-on healing
Kelly Moretta, owner of
Awakenings Holistic Wellness,
helps people move toward balance
and wholeness with reiki
bio-field energy therapy.
Reiki is a Japanese hands-on
healing technique that promotes
overall health and well-being by
restoring balance to the body’s
energy system at physical, emotional,
mental and spiritual levels.
“Reiki is one of the fastest
growing complementary healing
techniques,” she said. “It is
widely practiced in homes, clinics,
hospitals, nursing homes and
spas throughout the world.”
Clinical studies have shown
that reiki can relax the body,
relieve pain, improve sleep,
clear toxins and boost the immune
system. Reiki benefits the
healthy and those with illness
and is valuable for all ages. It is
widely used for stress management
and relaxation. For people
with chronic illness, regular
treatments will help manage
symptoms and enhance conventional
treatment.
Moretta works with her clients
to customize each reiki session
based on their specific needs because
of her passion for helping
others.
Moretta is a reiki master in the
Usui/Tibetian, Ascension and
Reiju systems of healing, among
other modalities. She holds certification
with the International
Association of Reiki Professionals
and the International Center
for Reiki Training.
As the founder and coordinator
of North Shore Reiki and
Energy Healers, she has created
a local community for both experienced
energy healers and
those interested in experiencing
and learning about the benefits
of reiki energy work.
Moretta is also a reiki master
teacher, offering certification
classes for those wanting to enhance
and empower their lives
with this harmonizing energy.
“Reiki’s gentle and nurturing
energy is an ancient technique
that is the wave of the future,”
she said. “For those looking for a
more holistic approach to health
and wellness, the opportunities
are endless.”
Moretta discovered energy
healing through her own need
for healing.
After leading a successful
corporate management position
while raising two young daughters,
she suddenly found herself
in need of medical help. The
stress and demands of a fastpaced
career and family life had
taken its toll. She was diagnosed
with an autoimmune condition
similar to lupus that demanded
she immediately pay more attention
to herself.
Doctors offered a host of pharmaceuticals,
but she knew the
key was in making life changes
and embracing holistic mind and
body wellness techniques to heal
herself.
“I began practicing yoga
and meditation,” Moretta said.
“Later, I received my first reiki
session, and although initially
skeptical, I immediately became
a believer and an outspoken advocate
of this transformative
healing art.”
Having experienced the profound
healing that she did, her
passion to share it with as many
people as possible was ignited.
Moretta left her corporate career
and began studying different
modalities of energy healing,
advancing to master teacher with
reiki as her chosen specialty.
Along with her healing treatments,
Moretta is also a certified
yoga instructor. She often
combines reiki, breath work and
meditation with her clients for a
truly transformative experience.
22ndCenturyMedia.com
Now playing: Summer movie nights in your own backyard
Statepoint media
Looking for a way to get
the most out of your summer
evenings? Make it a night at
the drive-in at home! With the
right equipment and planning,
you can easily enjoy your favorite
movies under the stars,
right in your own backyard.
Here are a few simple steps for
bringing your new favorite tradition
to life.
The setup
Designing your outdoor
screening space is a simple process.
To begin, determine where
your screen should be placed.
You will want your screen positioned
where there is minimal
light once the house lights are off
and the sun has set. There should
be ample space for guest seating,
and room for the projector’s image
throw distance. For optimal
image quality, your projector
should be elevated.
For seating, an assortment of
lawn chairs, floor chairs, outdoor
ottomans and outdoor rugs will
accommodate preferences for
guests of all ages.
Since you will be limiting ambient
light as much as possible,
keeping pathways lit for safety
purposes is a sensible exception.
Solar LED pathway lights are
a tasteful accent that will keep
guests safe around tripping hazards.
The basics
Select the right projector.
Since outdoor settings include
a number of light sources that
are not always within your
control, such as street lights
and moonlight, choosing a
projector with the right lumen
level for your space is critical
for clear image projection. As
a rule, the more ambient light
in your backyard, the higher
you will want your projector’s
lumen level to be.
The second component to
consider is sound. No home theater
system is complete without
quality sound, and your outdoor
screening experience is no exception.
Your guests will appreciate
an audio source with
enough output to cut through
ambient noise.
For simplicity and convenience,
consider an all-in-one
outdoor movie theater kit, such
as the one offered by Improvements,
which is Wi-Fi enabled
and features everything your
backyard home theater needs,
including a 1,200 lumen projector
with 800x480 DPI, Bluetooth
speaker and a 90-inch
screen.
The extra details
Since you’ll most likely be
waiting for the sun to set before
starting the movie, get creative
with activities for both kids and
adults to pass the time. It’s a
smart step to spray the area for
bugs before guests arrive, and
keep additional pest control solutions
on hand.
Hosting an outdoor movie
party is a fun opportunity to put
a twist on movie theater snacks,
especially ideas that can be prepared
in advance. However, fresh
popcorn is an absolute must.
Three fun, fashionable
color trends this summer
Statepoint Media
Whether you’re looking
forward to attending a
few special events or have
a fun getaway planned,
you’re probably wondering
what key items you’ll
need to add to your wardrobe
for summer.
The good news is that
there’s no need to overhaul
your entire closet. And, it’s
easier than ever to incorporate
on-trend pieces into
your outfit of the day.
This season’s most coveted
colors are bright hues,
pretty pastels and metallic
tones, according to Nichole
Duck, women’s buyer
for fashion-forward retailer
Off Broadway Shoe
Warehouse.
Here, she shares how to
wear on-trend colors for
any style:
Metallics as neutrals
Metallic accessories and
footwear provide a versatile
option for today’s
fashion. Because metallics
can mesh with a broad
range of color palettes and
design styles, they are the
new neutral.
Ideas to try:
• Select a classic white T-
shirt, skinny jeans and a
pair of metallic slides for
a comfy and casual look.
• Wear a long floral dress
with metallic sandals
featuring rose gold or silver
to make a statement.
Bold and beautiful
From berets to jumpsuits,
bright hues are prevalent
head to toe this season.
Additionally, there’s a
resurgence of on-trend apparel
and accessories that
have undoubtedly been
inspired by somewhere
over the rainbow. In fact,
rainbow-striped knit tops,
athletic track pants, crewneck
sweaters and more
are now all the rage.
Ideas to try:
• Pair a neutral, open-toed
sandal with a pleated
maxi rainbow skirt.
• Balance casual jeans with
a pair of stilettos in a favorite
statement color.
Vibrant red, ultra violet
and electric blue shades
can add a charge of energy
to any outfit.
Ice cream pastels
This season, ready-towear
fashion features a
palette of ice cream pastel
shades (think yellow sorbet,
mint green and lilac
hues). The possibilities to
incorporate these colors
into this season’s outfits
are limitless.
Ideas to try:
• Combine a pair of pastel
skinny jeans with a
neutral kitten heel for a
polished look. Shades of
beige, coffee and gray
all work well to complement
the soft colors.
• Try a fun, pointy-toed
pump with a simple
camisole and pair of
jeans.
“From running errands
to enjoying a night on the
town, this season’s color
options offer variety and
versatility for everyone’s
personal style,” Duck said.
To complete your summer
look with today’s current
trends, check out fashionable
retailers offering
thousands of options, such
as Off Broadway. With
more than 80 locations
coast-to-coast, they offer
high fashion styles from
top designer and name
brands. Visit offbroadwayshoes.com
to shop online
and get inspiration for
venturing into the summer
season in style.
From head to toe, just
a few essential on-trend
pieces are all that’s needed
to give your entire wardrobe
a fresh summer reboot.
Summer laundry tips for
fresher, cleaner clothes
Statepoint Media
From grassy picnics and sweaty soccer
games to saucy cookouts, clothes can be
particularly vulnerable to all kinds of stains
and odors during the warm weather months.
Check out these tips for doing your
laundry in a way that keeps clothes fresh
and looking new as long as possible.
Understand the basics
Different stains require different cleaning
agents, and unfortunately, there is no
one single ingredient that cleans all kinds
of stains well. For example, milk and grass
stains require enzyme cleaners, while
ink or wine stains require peroxides. Of
course, clothes also need brighteners and
detergents to come out looking their best.
Understanding these basic principles can
help you treat clothes more effectively.
Pre-treat stains
Stained clothing should be pre-treated
with a tough, multi-faceted solution. Rub
in pre-treatment gently and wait three to
five minutes. Just be careful not to allow
the solution to dry on the fabric. Some
garments will need a longer pre-treatment.
If so, add the solution to water and
soak the soiled clothing in a bucket before
washing as usual.
Fight odor
Select products that keep laundry fresh
longer. For example, Dryel has an Odor
& Wrinkle Releaser that provides an extra
boost of clean.
Extend the life of clothes
Pair a great detergent with a laundry
booster that can tackle multiple types of
stains. For example, Biz has more stain
fighters than other brands, while also
brightening clothes. Available in powder,
liquid and liquid boosters, independent,
third-party tests have shown that Biz
works 80 percent better than detergent
alone.
Read the tags
When in doubt, referencing tags for
washing and drying directions can help
you best maintain a garment’s color,
brightness and shape. More fresh laundry
tips can be found at bizstainfighter.com.
Must-haves for summer pool and beach parties
StatePoint Media
Summer days are all
about sun and fun. Here
are some tips and accessories
to make sure your days
spent at the beach, pool or
lake are picture-perfect for
posting on social media.
Say cheese
Look great in all your
summer photos by rocking
your squint-free look.
Get equipped with a pair
of shades, a stylish sun hat
or both. These accessories
pull double-duty, protecting
you from UV rays
while keeping you cameraready
at all times.
Whatever floats your boat
If you love lounging in
the water, get ready to take
your relaxation style to a
whole new level and make
the day spent with friends
totally “Insta-worthy.”
Join the likes of A-list
celebrities with the hottest
trend in summer fun —
larger-than-life floats. The
newest novelty floats introduced
by Intex for this
summer season include
photo-realistic, high definition
printing that looks
just like the real thing,
only way bigger. They
have potato chip bag and
french fry container floats,
along with a pizza slice
mat that allows everyone
to float alone or join together
and form one giant
pizza float. Other new
designs that will help you
stand out from the crowd
include the mega unicorn
and peacock island floats,
which can measure more
than 9 feet. Durable, fun,
trendy and easy-to-inflate,
these are not your typical
pool floats. They all are
currently available at a
store near you or at your
favorite online retailer.
Protect your tech
Don’t leave your phone
at home or at the bottom
of your bag — protect it
from the hot sun, sand
and water with the right
case. The best options will
go beyond simple waterresistance
to be fully waterproof,
keeping phones
protected even after full
submersion, because you
never know when you’re
going swimming. With
options that range from
pouches to full-body cases,
there are models to
fit every need, and these
days, your case can be
customized to match your
style using the design of
your choosing.
Wherever your summer
fun takes you, don’t leave
home without all the season’s
essentials for good
times, great posts and lasting
memories.
Whether you’re shopping for Father’s
Day or celebrating the accomplishments
of a graduate, make a point of selecting
thoughtful, unforgettable gifts this dads
and grads season. Here are five ideas to
get you started:
1. The gift that keeps on giving. These
days, there are monthly subscription
boxes for just about everything. From
stylish socks and slick grooming tools
to jazz records to fine wine, take stock
of your recipient’s interests and needs
and give a gift that keeps on giving.
2. The gift of form and function. A timepiece
upgrade makes for a sophisticated
yet functional gift that will keep your
recipient on time for all appointments.
Check out connected timepieces, such
as the EDIFICE EQB800, which features
Casio’s Smartphone Link capability.
Pairing with a smartphone, the
watch can access the correct time for
more than 300 cities worldwide. Users
also have the capability to swap their
specified home time and world time,
as well as update alarms and other time
settings. By automatically syncing with
a time server four times daily, the watch
ensures ultimate accuracy.
3. The gift of your company. A pair of event
tickets is a great way to show your dad or
grad that you want to spend time together.
Whether it’s a day at the ballpark or your
favorite band is coming to town, scope
out the perfect event to attend together.
4. The gift of entertainment. Is your dad or
grad’s entertainment center in need of
an upgrade? Consider gifting a projector
for better gaming and movie nights. For
a mercury-free option, check out Casio
LampFree projectors, which combine
a laser and LED light source for highbrightness
and energy efficiency, using
half the amount of power per unit than
its traditional lamp-based counterparts.
Those from the Advanced Series, like
the XJ-F210WN, reach full brightness
in as fast as five seconds and feature Intelligent
Light Control to automatically
adjust the projection brightness according
to ambient light. This innovative
feature will ensure that movie fans have
spectacular visuals any time of day and
in any lighting conditions.
5. The gift of music. Has your gift recipient
always wanted to play piano?
Gift the tools needed for success. For
beginner keyboard players, one good
option for learning at home is Casio’s
CT-X700, a portable keyboard featuring
a Step-Up Lesson System that displays
proper music notation and correct
hand positioning, allowing beginners to
learn songs at their own pace. The keyboard’s
new AiX Sound Source faithfully
reproduces the sound of acoustic
instruments such as guitar, drums, bass,
brass, wind instruments, string ensembles
and more. Additionally, it includes
an extensive library of 600 tones and
195 rhythms.

American Home Maintenance
Service & Repairs, LLC.
Another 5 Star Rating
Because of Ethon’s experience, his company has helped us solve some
very technical issues in the home and at my office, where others have been
unsuccessful. He has a method that really educated us as well as consciously kept
us aware of our financial obligation as we walked the problems and discussed the
issues. I new what was to be expected and when it was to be paid for. Ethon has
put together a very efficient and cost effective way of doing business. We Highly
recommend American Home Maintenance Service & Repairs, LLC.
