<strong>Quartzsite</strong> may be the snowbird<br />
capital of the world, and the town<br />
has been a rockhound’s dream since<br />
the 1960s. <strong>Quartzsite</strong> has indeed<br />
become a mecca to well over a million<br />
visitors during the town’s annual<br />
shows and swap meets in January<br />
and February. From its humble beginnings<br />
the now-massive <strong>Quartzsite</strong><br />
show has grown to RV-epic proportions,<br />
with vendors offering everything<br />
from a Navajo rug to a new<br />
turbo-charged RV engine.<br />
Admission is free as is camping<br />
on the nearby government lands,<br />
where RVers claim a bit of dusty<br />
desert soil for their very own.<br />

<strong>Quartzsite</strong> gets HOT in the summer<br />
and folks are scarce when the temperatures<br />
top 110 degrees.<br />
In the winter though, when the<br />
town of a few thousand permanent<br />
residents swells to hundreds of<br />
thousands at a time (most in RVs),<br />
the temperature is typically mild<br />
with sunny skies, so if you show up<br />
bring shorts and suntan lotion.<br />
