Seasonal fun abounds at annual St.
Joseph Summer Block Party
Looking for an outdoor
summer festival that combines
great food, specialty
beers and wines, kids activities
and live music? If so,
then check out St. Joseph’s
Summer Block Party June
23 at St. Joseph’s School,
1740 Lake Ave. in Wilmette.
Now in its fifth year, the
St. Joe’s Block Party is a
family-friendly event that
caters to all residents of the
North Shore.
Food will be offered by
Bub City BBQ and Summer
House. Misericordia’s
Bakery Truck will supply
mouth-watering desserts
and sweets. Wilmette’s own
Bottle Shop will provide local
craft beers and awardwinning
wines. And, kids
will have their choice of
bounce houses, face painting,
snow cones and more.
Live music will be featured
throughout the afternoon
and evening. This
year’s headliner will be
none other than Chicago’s
own Freddy Jones Band,
touring to celebrate the 25th
anniversary of their smash
single, “In a Daydream.”
“Chicago’s North Shore
has become a home away
from home for us,” said Marty
Lloyd, the founder of Freddy
Jones Band. “We all live
in separate corners of the map
these days, and it always feels
like coming home. We are
thrilled to play this event!”
“If you lived in Chicago in
the ’90s and ’00s, you probably
saw or at least heard the
Freddy Jones Band,” said
Tim Finnigan, the head of
marketing for the St. Joseph
Men’s Club. “You can relive
the old glory days and bring
your kids to a safe, welcoming
and entertaining venue.”
This year’s block party
will take place from 4-10
p.m. Tickets are $20 for
adults, $5 for teens and free
for kids under 12.
