FIRST QUALITY BEECHWOOD TIMBER, WIDTH BIGGER THAN 80MM
Grade A is our highest quality. Pieces from this grade have an uniform appearance, free of knots or red heart, the beauty of the beech wood being fully revealed.
Details on quality:
• 4 clear faces: no red heart, no knots.
• 3 clear faces: sound of red heart.
Notice: boards in 3FC grade are alowed in about 10% from whole quantity, both qualities on same pallet.

Grade AB permits healthy red heart and one healthy knot per linear meter only on one face. The allowed sound red heart to this quality is conferring a beautiful natural coloration to the
wood and reveals its esthetic values.

• up to three sides clear.
Notice: boards with small defects are not exceeding 10% from whole quantity.

Salient Properties
Beechwood is medium to heavyweight. It is very hard and tough. It has good strength properties and high abrasion resistance. Beech can shrink considerably and is subject to movement
more than other woods. It should not be subject to moisture fluctuations before or during working.
Charateristics and Usage
Beech is available as round or sawn timber as well as veneer. Despite its hardness, Beechwood can be worked easily. It can be cut, planed, drilled and milled. When steam-treated it is
well-suited, like the ash, to bending into form. Surface finishing is straightforward. It can be stained, painted and polished.

RESPONSABILITY
EU Timber Regulation (EUTR)
The regulation came into force on 3rd March 2013, is binding on all EU Member States and prohibits illegally harvested timber or timber products from being placed in the EU market.

Is binding on all 28 EU Member States, which are responsible for laying down penalties and for enforcing the regulation
Main obligations of the EUTR
The regulation counters the trade in illegally harvested timber and timber products through three key obligations:
1) It prohibits the placing on the EU market of illegally harvested timber and products derived from such timber;
2) It requires EU traders who place timber products on the EU market for the first time to exercice “due diligence”. Once on the market, the timber and timber products may be sold on
and/or transformed before they reach the final customer.
To allow for the traceability of timber products, economic operators in this part of the supply chain (referred to as traders in this regulation) have an obligation to

Responsability for the environment with products from Haty!
What type of information indicates that Haty Beech is of legal origin? There is a proof in multiple ways.
1) Origin of wood: Haty is sourcing currently raw material only in Romania. Romania enjoys well established forest legislation across all of the federal states. The legislation is applied
reliably with respect to the legality of forest wood harvesting measures.
The legality of wood harvesting measures is provided for by the legislation, and is implemented at the administrative level. Alone the origin of the logs will easily fulfil the legal
requirements.
Amongst others one criterion for FSC® certified/Controlled Wood is the exclusion of illegally harvested wood. The national FSC® Controlled Wood Risk Assessment for Romania indicates
that wood sources from Romania can be generally seen as low risk sources in relation to illegality.
3) According to Global Forest Registry Romania is confirmed to be free of significant risk of illegal harvesting activities.
4) There is usually a high rate of correlation between the level of corruption and the risk of illegal logging. According to Transparency International here is a low perception of corruption in
Romania.
5) Global Witness has published reports on countries with illegal activities in the forest sector. There is no bad press about Romania.
6) The European Timber Trade Federation has developed a list of species that has been reported to carry a higher risk of association with illegal harvesting. Beech is not on this list.
7) The raw material for the exported Haty products was already placed on the EU market. Thus the importing of wood products manufactured 100% from Haty products into the EU is
therefore not seen as “first placing on the market”.
However the operator (EU importer) has to verify that there was no mixing with materials from non EU origin throughout the complete Chain-of-Custody.
