Summer 2018<br />
The National press is full of gloom for High<br />
Streets throughout Britain, and if one were to<br />
believe them, there will soon be nowhere to<br />
shop other than online.<br />
But here in Malvern, nothing could be further from those dire<br />
predictions. One of the greatest joys of Portico is that we get to<br />
meet so many business owners and learn so much of what is<br />
happening in our shopping locations. Who is moving on to<br />
pastures new, who is taking over with fresh energy and<br />
ambition. Updating, re-decorating, moving premises, new<br />
ideas, products and services are all part of our local scene.<br />
We would like to offer a warm welcome to J’Habite in Barnard’s<br />
Green, Reiki at Tranquility in Gilbert’s End, Not Just Cakes and<br />
That Carpet Place in Malvern Link, The Morgan Pub and<br />
Malvern Cellar in Great Malvern. DAR at Link Top has moved<br />
next door, all of 25 metres, to a larger showroom on the corner<br />
of Worcester Road. Austin Cards in Great Malvern has moved<br />
from Belle Vue Terrace to Church Street offering a new look to<br />
their highly loved and respected range of cards and<br />
merchandise. The old NatWest Bank property is still subject to<br />
legal paperwork, but behind the scene exciting plans are<br />
taking shape. We hear that the newsagents on the corner of<br />
Church Walk will soon be re-furbished which should add some<br />
extra colour to that prominent corner.<br />
Great Malvern Post Office and<br />
Card Emporium has changed<br />
ownership. We would like to<br />
offer a warm welcome to<br />
Mohammed Chand and wish<br />
him and his Team a long,<br />
happy and rewarding future in<br />
Malvern. This would be a good<br />
time to thank Sara and Nigel<br />
Morris, staff and family for<br />
many years (20) of dedicated<br />
service. Of course, they will<br />
still be offering a strong<br />
presence with Rhubarb Gifts<br />
and Rhubarb Home.<br />
