Dear Friends:
Thank you for joining us this afternoon to celebrate our 40th Anniversary
Luncheon at the Grand Hyatt. We are extremely grateful for your support
and are delighted to be presenting The Lewis Rudin Award to Randy M.
Mastro, Esq., Partner of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.
We will also present The Spirit of NADAP Award to three well-deserving
clients in recognition of their accomplishments over the past year –
Ernest Junius, Barbara Warren and Richard Santana. These individuals
exemplify the best of what we do and we are sure that you will be as moved
by their stories as we at NADAP have been. We are very proud of each of
their accomplishments.
Since 1971, NADAP has been committed to providing innovative and
strategic workforce development services to at-risk and under-served
individuals, as well as to businesses and government. Each year, more
than 40,000 individuals receive employment-related services through
NADAP’s programs. Program services are provided to adult job seekers,
dislocated workers, public assistance recipients, workforce development
professionals, and the business community. The common goal of all
NADAP programs and services is employment.
I want to take this opportunity to thank our Luncheon Committee – this
event could not happen without their support and commitment. I’d also like
to extend my appreciation to Bill Ritter, who is joining us again as Master
of Ceremonies.

Randy M. Mastro is Co-Chair of
Gibson Dunn’s Litigation Practice
Group, which The American Lawyer
named “The 2010 Litigation
Department of the Year.” He also
Co-Chairs the Firm’s Crisis Management
Group, and serves on the
Firm’s Management and Executive
Committees. He is routinely ranked
among the top lawyers in New York
and the nation. For example,
Lawdragon cited him among the
“500 Leading Lawyers in America,”
and The Legal 500 named him one of
the top ten “leading trial lawyers” in
the country, with clients describing
him as “immensely impressive,” “captivating” and “in a league of his own”
in the courtroom. Among many high-profile matters, Mr. Mastro led the
successful effort to defeat the City’s controversial West Side Stadium project,
and he is currently representing Chevron in seeking to prevent enforcement of
an $18 billion Ecuadorian judgment.
From 1994 to 1998, Mr. Mastro served in Mayor Giuliani’s administration as
Deputy Mayor for Operations, overseeing all of the City’s operating agencies
and budget and acting as the Mayor’s chief liaison with elected officials. He
also spearheaded the City’s initiatives to remove organized crime from the
Fulton Fish Market, the private carting industry, and the San Gennaro Festival.
In consecutive years, NY 1 named Mr. Mastro one of City government’s
“Winners of the Year.”
After graduating cum laude from Yale College and the University of Pennsylvania
Law School, Mr. Mastro served as law clerk to Justice Alan B. Handler of the New
Jersey Supreme Court. Mr. Mastro was also an adjunct associate professor at
Fordham Law School; and he served as an Assistant United States Attorney and
Deputy Chief of the Civil Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the
Southern District of New York, where he received the Attorney General’s
Distinguished Service Award.
Organizations on whose boards Mr. Mastro has voluntarily served include
the Legal Aid Society of New York City, Citizens Union of the City of New
York, Hamptons International Film Festival, YMCA of Greater New York,
Jewish Children’s Museum, University of Pennsylvania Law School Board
of Overseers, and the City University of New York.

WABC-TV Anchor, Eyewitness News
Bill Ritter has been an anchor with WABC Ch. 7
Eyewitness News for the past 13 years, and is also a
correspondent for the ABC NEWS magazine show, 20/20.
He has been a key member of ABC’s news team since
1993, and also writes the daily email column, “Behind the
News with Bill Ritter” which previews the 11 pm edition
of Eyewitness News.
Throughout his 39 year career in print and TV journalism, Mr. Ritter has
covered virtually every major news event and been at the center of many of
them. He has won 7 Emmy Awards, and conducted revealing interviews with
some of the leading figures of our time.
Mr. Ritter hosts the annual ABC special, Operation 7: Save a Life that increases
public awareness about fire safety and prevention, and from 1980 to 1990
served as chairman of Crash, Inc., a nonprofit drug education and prevention
organization in San Diego, California.
THE LEWIS RUDIN AWARD
Established in 1971 by Lewis Rudin as an outgrowth
of the Association for a Better New York, NADAP
remains a testament to Lew’s tireless efforts to
improve and promote New York City. Each year
NADAP honors an individual or corporation that
consistently contributes to the fabric of our city
through leadership, civic virtue and innovative
economic solutions.

Ernest Juniaus • Barbara Warren • Richard Santana
Each year the “Spirit of NADAP Award” is presented to
men and women who attest by their vocational achievements to the
value of NADAP’s services.
ERNEST JUNIAUS
Ernest Juniaus was enrolled in NADAP’s
Managed Addiction Treatment (MATS)
program Aspire on June 17, 2010.
The Aspire case management program
services clients who are in need of
substance abuse services and are chronic
high-end users of Medicaid relative to
treatment services (the general range of
services is between $20,000 and $75,000
over a 36 month period).
At the time of his enrollment, Mr. Juniaus’
utilization of Medicaid was in excess
of $230,000, had a 40 year history of
substance and alcohol abuse and was
engaged in Residential Treatment services.
Since his enrollment – with the assistance
of his assigned case manager – Ernest
has completed treatment, maintained his
sobriety and remained compliant with all
case management and HRA mandates.
He has completed mandated work
activity requirements, obtained and
maintained stable housing, enrolled in
GED classes and surrounded himself with
a new network of positive relationships to
further stabilize his life. Most importantly,
Ernest has, since December, 2010, been
employed as a stock-room manager at
Concord Markets.
However, the most compelling aspect
of Ernest’s accomplishments during
his tenure with Aspire has been the
reduction in his Medicaid utilization.
During the 11 months he has been with us,
Ernest spending has decreased by 94%.
He continues to make strides towards
independence and exemplifies the positive
effects of the collaborative efforts of the
client and case manager working towards
a shared goal of success. The “Spirit of
NADAP” at its best.
BARBARA WARREN
As a young mother of six—later to be
seven, newly living in recovery from substance
abuse and utilizing support from
her outpatient treatment program, Barbara
Warren wanted to return to the workforce.
This time, she wanted more than just a
“job” – she was determined to begin a
career. Her counselors recognized Ms.
Warren’s potential and were impressed
by her motivation; in 1989, Ms. Warren
eagerly accepted their referral for her
to participate in NADAP employment
services. Ms. Warren was soon ready
to re-enter the job market having
experience working in the substance
abuse treatment field. At NADAP, she
worked on developing her resume and
interviewing skills, and learned the steps
necessary to find a job. Ms. Warren
obtained a position as an intake worker
in a chemical dependency treatment
program. She went on to obtain positions
of increasing responsibility as a Counselor,
Program Coordinator and Outpatient
Manager. Ms. Warren continued her
education, becoming a Credentialed
Alcoholism and Substance Abuse
Counselor (CASAC) and earning a
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services,
all while working.
Throughout her career, she often thought
about returning to NADAP—but this
time as an experienced professional.
That opportunity came in December
2007 when Ms. Warren began working at
NADAP as a Program Supervisor in our
Substance Abuse Centralized Assessment
Program. During her tenure, she has made
positive contributions impacting countless
individuals receiving NADAP services.
Ms. Warren is proud to “give back” and
NADAP is proud to include her as a
successful alumna.
RICHARD SANTANA
Richard Santana was enrolled in
NADAP’s Comprehensive Employment
Services program on October 14,
2009. Richard was referred to NADAP
by the Department of Parole after
having served eight years in prison
for burglary.
Prior to coming to NADAP, he had
little success in his job search and
faced many obstacles due to his
incarceration. He came to NADAP
for assistance in obtaining a job in
the maintenance field. Richard
participated in NADAP’s job
readiness workshops and legal clinics
that improved his interviewing skills
and showed him new ways to honestly
discuss his legal background. To
further assist with job preparation,
NADAP revised his resume and
provided him with interview clothing.
Richard obtained employment with
Western Beef as a Laborer/Runner
bringing meat to the butchers.
After gaining valuable work
experience, he continued to work
with NADAP to find a higher paying
job with more responsibility.
NADAP placed Richard at Osborne
Association as a maintenance worker.
He is still there today and last month
he received a promotion to Supervisor.
He currently supervises a crew of
5 maintenance staff. Richard’s
accomplishments truly attest to the
true “Spirit of NADAP”.

Sunday, November 6, 2011
The Rudin Trophy is given in memory of their beloved father, grandfather
and great grandfather, a long distance runner for the Pastime Athletic Club
in the Bronx between 1917 and 1923.
Samuel Rudin (1896-1975)
An avid long distance runner and civic leader, Samuel
Rudin rose from humble beginnings on New York’s Lower
East Side to become one of New York’s major builders and
owners of real estate. Rudin joined the Pastime Athletic
Club in the Bronx in 1917 while a student at City College
and competed in long distance races as a member of
the Club through 1923. In 1925, he founded the Rudin
Management Company, a real estate firm which presently
owns and manages 20 multi-story apartment houses and 16
office buildings in Manhattan. Samuel Rudin was actively
involved with many charitable organizations in New York
City, including the United Jewish Appeal (Federation of
Jewish Philanthropies), City College Fund and the Boy
Scouts of America. In 1967, he was awarded an honorary
Doctor of Laws degree by Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. Today the
Rudin family continues to play a major philanthropic role in New York City.

SILENT AUCTION BIDDING GUIDE
Please enjoy perusing the auction tables with more than 30 exciting silent auction prizes.
Items include tickets to entertainment and sporting events, autographed memorabilia,
experiential items and vacation getaways, plus much more.
GENERAL CONDITIONS OF THE SALE
Items have been catalogued with an effort to describe each correctly. All items have been
donated and are sold “as is.” NADAP, Inc. and EEG (Empire Events Group) does not assume
responsibility as to the authenticity, condition, or fitness for use.
All items and services are subject to the terms and conditions stipulated by their donors.
Unless otherwise stated, the time limit on services is one year from the event date and
subject to availability.
NADAP, Inc. and EEG does not assume responsibility for the failure of vacation or fantasy
packages taking place or for any injuries that may occur while participating in them. Fantasy
packages do not include travel or accommodations unless otherwise stated and are subject to
change by the donor.
Payment must be made in full by cash, check, AMEX, Visa, or Master Card before taking
possession of any items. Please make checks payable to: NADAP, Inc.
All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds.
The proceeds of the auction benefit NADAP, Inc. A sales receipt for your tax records shall be
issued upon payment for the Auction item. To the extent allowed by law, the amount paid for
an Auction item is tax deductible to the extent it exceeds the “fair market value” of the goods
or services received.
BID PROCESS
Each silent auction item has a number assigned to it by category. Announcements will be
made 15 and 5 minutes prior to the time of closing.
A bid sheet will be located in front of each item. Each bid sheet specifies an opening minimum
bid and minimum increments. You must include your full name and telephone number on the
bid sheet. The highest valid bid listed on the bid sheet at the close of the silent auction will
constitute the winning bid.
In the event there are active bidders on an item at the close of the silent auction, the bidders
will be given an opportunity to place a final sealed bid. The highest bid will win the item.
Winning bids are paid for, before departure, at the Auction tables – at which time the winning
bidder may take possession of the paid item.
Any bid item unclaimed or not paid for within one week of the end of the Auction shall
be offered to the next highest bidder.
