Getting To Know Your EBCA Leaders
Hailey Ayres -
Mayoral dreams for EBCA Secretary with New Masters Degree
Leadership Profile by Lynna Harrison, with Bryan Harrison
East Bay Claims Association is fortunate to have the talents of 2018 Secretary, Hailey Ayres,
as part of their leadership team. Hailey was born and raised in Walnut Creek, California. The
second of three girls, with her birthday just one year and two days before her younger sister’s -
Hailey’s being June 15th, with
her sister’s one year later on
June 17th. “It’s always been
just like being twins,” she said.
Hailey Graduated from Las Lomas
High School, Walnut Creek, before attending University of California
at Santa Barbara, where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Sociology. Out
of college she went to work for the City of El Cajon, in the San Diego area.
She moved back after several years to the Bay area and went to work for
Wingard Construction, finding her way to the Claims industry.
She started in the accounting department and front desk at Wingard. She
soon advanced to become the Construction Coordinator, and then took on
the role as Marketing Manager when Katie Howard retired.
“Katie was the one who introduced me to the EBCA,” she said with her
infectious smile.
Hailey is also a graduate of the “Leadership Contra Costa” program. Sponsored
by the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Contra Costasm
(LCC), is “the Bay Area’s premier county-wide leadership program” states
the organization’s web site. The program accepts 25–30 individuals from
throughout the county with diverse backgrounds to participate, and is geared
to people who want to make a difference in the communities in which they
live and work. Topics include Health and Aging, The Price of Justice, Business
and the Economy, Environment, Education, Social Justice, Government and
Politics, and Housing and Transportation.
Hailey’s big news, however, is that she just completed her Master’s Degree,
in Public Administration, from Cal State Hayward. One of her life goals is
to one day become the Mayor of Walnut Creek.
This past January, Hailey accepted a new career position, remaining within
the property claims industry, working as a Systems Analyst for Emergency
Restoration & Cleaning (ERC), out of the Sacramento area.
“There’s been a huge emphasis in my Master’s program on Organizational
Management & Development, which I am excited to incorporate into my
new job here at ERC,” Hailey explained. As ERC’s Systems Analyst, my
goal is to help facilitate their inevitable growth this year.”
Hailey has very effectively made her mark in the industry in a relatively
short time. “I have been in the industry for about 2 ½ years and am actively
involved on both the East Bay Claims and CCNC (Claims Conference
of N. California) Boards. I have valued those extra positions greatly as
they have allowed me to form a deeper connection to the industry as a
whole as well as the awesome people that are in it.”
She went on to explain how ERC has grown. “My boss, Kevin Manzer,
originally started his business as a Carpet Cleaning company called
Always Green Clean,” she said. “In the last 7 years, he has ventured in
to the Insurance Restoration industry as ERC (Emergency Restoration
& Cleaning). ERC is a one-stop-shop that can service claims from the
start at Emergency Services, to Water/Fire Restoration & Cleaning, to
Contents, and on through the Reconstruction phase.”
Though the company mainly services the greater Sacramento area, she
said, they have provided services for clients all over Northern California
from Santa Rosa, to Grass Valley, and even to Lake Tahoe.
“As employers we all understand the challenge in finding qualified candidates
to fill various positions,” ERC President, Kevin Manzer, stated.
“When I originally spoke with Hailey it was for an Xactimate report
writer position. After only five minutes of speaking with her I realized
how intelligent, professional, and confident in her abilities she was. 15
minutes into our conversation I had already created a position specific
for Hailey, and we are so excited to have her on board.”
Though she’s been quite busy, Hailey makes time for her personal interests
and hobbies. “When I am not studying or working (which feels rare
these days!), my favorite things are live music and being outdoors. On
the weekends you can catch me on a hike in the open space during the
day and/or a concert or show with friends at night.”
