SCA MISSION STATEMENT:
“The Sacramento Claims Association is a professional organization
fostering contact and communication among its members and
others in the insurance claims industry. The cornerstone of the Sacramento
Claims Association is rooted in four primary areas: Education;
Charitable; Communication; and Social.”
June 2018 Message from
SCA President
Steve Moore, PE, CASp
“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor
gloom of night…” is the beginning of
the unofficial motto for the United States
Postal Service. I would like to finish the
motto with “…nor driving winds stays
these participants of the 2018 SCA Golf
Tournament from having a wonderful day
with colleagues, clients, and friends!”
Although it was quite windy out at the
SCA President
Steve Moore, PE, CASp
Barrish Pelham & Associates, Inc.
Turkey Creek Golf Course in Rocklin on May 11, we still had a
fantastic time! THANK YOU AGAIN! to Mr. Mathieu Schwartz,
the SCA Vice President, for coordinating and pulling off another
very successful event! The Sacramento Fire Fighters Burn Institute
was once again the charity organization affiliated with the tournament
and we were told everyone was gracious and very generous!
Another THANK YOU! and a YOU’RE AWESOME! and a WE
COULDN’T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU! goes out to all of our
sponsors and golfers at the event, especially our Eagle sponsors,
JM Environmental and Regas Group!
The SCA Board of Directors is “blown away” and very appreciative
of the continued support we get from our Members.
We hope above all else that you feel your Membership in our Association
is meaningful and productive. So, we welcome any questions
or concerns you may have about the golf tournament, or any other
SCA Social Event, in an attempt to make them more beneficial for
our association and germane to the industry.
The SCA continues on with its stream of Social events in the months
of June and July. For June, we are planning a late afternoon mixer at
Mayahuel and in July it’s the annual River Cats game! To purchase
tickets for hopefully both events, please visit the SCA website at
www.sacramentoclaims.org for more information and purchasing
options.
I hope to see everyone soon!
RegasGroup Announces Addition of Amaya Fine to
accommodate Bay Area Expansion
RegasGroup Environmental Consultants is
very pleased to announce the addition of Business
Development Executive, Amaya Fine, to their
staff as of May 1, 2018.
“As RegasGroup has expanded into the East Bay
& North Bay we are proud to announce Amaya as
our new Business Development Executive,” stated
Business Development Manager, Andrea Latimer.
“She is a great addition and we are excited to
Amaya Fine
welcome her to TeamRegas!”
RegasGroup provides same day testing, results and reports for asbestos, lead,
mold and bacteria.
Amaya stated that she first got into the industry “just by chance. A friend with
whom I went to high school posted a job opening for a part-time admin in his
office. I applied, and there I was…in restoration! I worked the front desk for
about 10 months and then transitioned into Marketing,” she added.
Prior to taking that position, Ms. Fine said she had been “a stay at home mom
for 3 years”.
A Bay Area native, “born and raised”, Amaya earned her Bachelor of Arts
degree in Communication Studies from California State University at Sacramento.
Working in Marketing, then, is a perfect fit for her, she said.
“I feel like where I am with my whole job/career is my strongest accomplishment,”
she said with her big welcoming smile. “To find something that you
enjoy doing EVERYDAY is truly a blessing! The quote, ‘Choose a job you
love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life’ is so true!”
When not at work, Amaya’s focus is on her two daughters, Penelope (7) and
Scarlett (4). “When I’m not working they are my whole world. We spend tons
of time outdoors and love to travel! From bike rides around the neighborhood,
hiking Black Diamond Mines, beach days in Santa Cruz and visiting family in
Spain, we stay pretty busy.”
ERC Announces Addition of Hailey Ayres
Emergency Restoration & Cleaning (ERC), based
in the Sacramento area, is pleased to announce the
addition of Ms. Hailey Ayres, as a Systems Analyst,
to their team.
Relatively new to the property claims world, Hailey’s
big news is that she just achieved her Master’s
Degree, in Public Administration, from Cal State
Hayward.
“There’s been a huge emphasis in my Master’s
program on Organizational Management & Development,
which I am excited to incorporate into my
Hailey Ayres
new job here at ERC,” she stated. “As ERC’s Systems Analyst, my goal is to
help facilitate their inevitable growth this year.”
A native of Walnut Creek, CA, Hailey graduated from Las Lomas High School,
before attending University of California at Santa Barbara, where she earned
her Bachelors Degree in Sociology. Out of college she went to work for the
City of El Cajon, in the San Diego area.
She moved back after several years to the Bay area and went to work for Wingard
Construction, finding her way to the Claims industry.
She started in the accounting department and front desk at Wingard. She soon
advanced to become the Construction Coordinator, and then took on the role
as Marketing Manager when Katie Howard retired.
“Katie was the one who introduced me to the East Bay Claims Association, and
the industry,” she said with her infectious smile.
One of Hailey’s life goals is to one day become the Mayor of Walnut Creek.
Hailey has very effectively made her mark in the industry since she arrived on
the scene. “I have been in the industry for about 2 ½ years and am actively
involved on both the East Bay Claims and CCNC (Claims Conference of N.
California) Boards. I have valued those extra positions greatly as they have
allowed me to form a deeper connection to the industry as a whole as well as
the awesome people that are in it.”
She went on to explain how ERC has grown. “My boss, Kevin Manzer,
originally started his business as a Carpet Cleaning company called Always
Green Clean,” she said. “In the last 7 years, he has ventured in to the Insurance
Restoration industry as ERC (Emergency Restoration & Cleaning). ERC is a
one-stop-shop that can service claims from the start at Emergency Services, to
Water/Fire Restoration & Cleaning, to Contents, and on through the Reconstruction
phase.”
Though the company mainly services the greater Sacramento area, she said,
they have provided services for clients all over Northern California from Santa
Rosa, to Grass Valley, and even to Lake Tahoe.
“As employers we all understand the challenge in finding qualified candidates to
fill various positions,” ERC President, Mr. Manzer, stated. “When I originally
spoke with Hailey it was for an Xactimate report writer position. After only
five minutes of speaking with her I realized how intelligent, professional, and
confident in her abilities she was. 15 minutes into our conversation I had already
created a position specific for Hailey, and we are so excited to have her on board.”
Though she’s been quite busy, Hailey makes time for her personal interests and
hobbies. “When I am not studying or working (which feels rare these days!),
my favorite things are live music and being outdoors. On the weekends you can
catch me on a hike in the open space during the day and/or a concert or show
with friends at night.”
ERC Systems Analyst, and EBCA Secretary, Hailey Ayres, may be reached at:
916-206-5545 (office), 916-717-6153 (cell) or hailey@ercsac.com
The ERC Mailing Address is: 3073 Kilgore Road, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670.

Rockin’ the Summer Time Blues!
By Bryan Harrison, Association News Network Publisher
Summertime, and the living is...
busy!
The kids are out of school, or soon
will be. Summer plans are kickingin,
making the ensuing season the
busiest for many families.
Amongst your plans, make time for your
professional world, even as much of those
plans include such events as Paint Nite,
Tequila tasting, a Golf Tournament, even a baseball game. You
deserve to have a little fun amongst your work colleagues, too, right?
This week kicks it off! Wednesday, June 13, 2018, the East Bay
Claims Association is holding their second annual Paint Nite. Attendees
should arrive at Zio Fraedo’s by 6pm, rather than lunch
time. There will be no luncheon that day. Go to: EastBayClaims.
org to sign-up now.
The following day, June 14th, the Sacramento Claims Association is
holding an afternoon/evening Tequila Tasting mixer event at Museo
Mayahuel, in downtown Sacramento. Go to: SacramentoClaims.
org to sign up and/or sponsor the event.
And, this Friday, Mid-Valley Claims Association will hold a regular
luncheon meeting (just to remind you this is a thing, even in June),
featuring guest speaker Kurt Ahlich, PE, of ARCCA, addressing Cost
Estimating. Go to MidValleyClaims.org to register now.
July will see still more fun activities in which to partake. Sacramento
Claims will hold their annual SCA Night At The Rivercats baseball
game, and EBCA will hold their 17th annual Golf Tournament Friday,
July 27th, at Eagle Vines, in Napa.
Mid-Valley Claims recently announced a luncheon July 17th - speaker
to be determined, and their first-ever MVCA Bowling Tournament
Friday, September 21, 2018 at Pacific Bowl in Stockton. Details
soon on their site.
Enjoy your Summer!
warmly,
Bryan
Membership Drive for 2018
Is On! - Join/Renew Now
The Sacramento Claims Association Membership Committee would like
to encourage you to join and/or renew your annual membership to the
association. Member dues provide a significant financial support to the
organization, and a strong membership helps to keep a non-profit like
SCA viable and alive. Without all of us together there would be no SCA.
“This organization could not maintain the strong standing we enjoy
today without the support of all our members,” stated SCA President
Steve Moore.
The organization has worked diligently to continue to provide programs
and events of interest and value to claims adjusters and the
surrounding claims service community.
“The Sacramento Claims Association is always committed to maintaining
a high degree of professional courtesy within our ranks.”
In addition to the organization actively taking measures to continue
to raise its standing within the community at large, the association
has been building on its sphere of local charitable causes to support.
The SCA Board has opted to continue to offer annual FREE Memberships
to insurance carrier adjusters (with an optional suggested $10
donation going to the charitable fund). Completion and submission
of a simple membership application now allows all such claims people
the benefits of membership.
