Ceremony at U.S. Supreme Court<br />

eighteen <strong>Chase</strong> alumni traveled to washington, D.C., to be sworn in as members <strong>of</strong> the<br />

bar <strong>of</strong> the supreme Court <strong>of</strong> the united states may 18, 2009. the trip marked the fifth annual<br />

<strong>Chase</strong> alumni association group admission Ceremony at the supreme Court.<br />

the <strong>Chase</strong> alumni, their family members and guests, and representatives from the<br />

college <strong>of</strong> law gathered at a reception the evening prior to the group admission ceremony. the<br />

reception was held in the thornton room at the hyatt regency on Capitol hill, which <strong>of</strong>fers a<br />

spectacular view <strong>of</strong> the lighted Capitol dome.<br />

Following the admissions ceremony, a reception was held in the Court’s east conference<br />

room where the portrait <strong>of</strong> u.s. supreme Court Chief justice salmon p. <strong>Chase</strong> is displayed.<br />

Chief justice john roberts and justice ruth Bader ginsburg attended the reception. a<br />

luncheon was then held at the historic willard intercontinental hotel to conclude the day’s<br />

activities.<br />

ann schoepf ’05, gregory Lee sizemore ’92, meridith oberklein spille ’05, timothy Bernard<br />

spille ’05, william Kash stilz, jr. ’02, howard Litton tankersley ’93, Christine marion<br />

vissman ’85, and Charlton hubert young ’92.<br />

<strong>Chase</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Law</strong> representatives participating in the event were Dean Dennis<br />

honabach, associate Dean David macKnight, associate Dean Karen ogburn and<br />

advancement specialist shelley menninger. <strong>Chase</strong> alumni association president stephen j.<br />

schuh ’78 made the motion for admission before the Court.<br />
