As millions more are poised to<br />

travel via air in the foreseeable<br />

f u t u r e , a i r p o r t s a r e<br />

challenged to provide order, safety,<br />

security and convenience all at the<br />

same time.<br />

Technology has long been<br />

tapped to ensure that these<br />

tasks are met but this will be<br />

heightened in the coming<br />

years as airports turn to new<br />

machines and ar tificial<br />

intelligence (AI) to create<br />

systems that will safeguard<br />

passengers and properties<br />

from threats of any kinds,<br />

including terror attacks.<br />

“In the near future, Artificial<br />

managing director for Middle East<br />

Operations of Smiths Detection.<br />

Squier served in the Royal Australian<br />

Navy for a decade before joining<br />

Smiths Detection, a global leader in<br />

threat detection and screening<br />

technologies for aviation, ports and<br />

borders, urban security and defense<br />

markets, in 2007.<br />

“Prior to joining Smiths Detection, I<br />

served in the Royal Australian Navy<br />

for 10 years. In that role, I was<br />

responsible for all aspects of<br />
