Nostalgic Images, continued from page 3... grandsons who love to hunt. When they came to visit the cabin and we took a trip to Williams, they got to pick out their own metal signs for their rooms. Because two of them have September birthdays, they already have the September Passage sign. There are several places in Williams that have a great selection of these signs and I see them in many antique shops as well. My subject matter was narrowed down so it limited which ones I was interested in, but I really like many others. They are affordable and fun and very nostalgic. That might be the reason for the name A collection of signs at Barbara’s cabin, pictured below. of the company called Nostalgic Images, Inc. One of their metal signs is shown on this issue’s front cover and they graciously allowed us to reproduce one of my favorite signs for Route 66. Check out their web site at www.nostalgicimages.com and enjoy the more than 700 metal sign images. Start looking in the shops for them; once you have become aware of these signs, you will notice lots of them. And, what is more fun than the nostalgia of Route 66? We have our Flagstaff, Williams, Kingman, Barstow, CA, and Needles, CA, shops in this and every issue of The Antique Register and all of those cities have lots of Route 66 events and related merchandise. The Mother Road, as Route 66 is called, was commissioned in 1926, crossed eight states and three time zones. It was a link between Chicago and Los Angeles and was intended to connect the main streets of rural and urban communities. Check out our wonderful advertisers in all of these Route 66 locations and have a nostalgic trip. P. S. I really don’t think I will be able to part with my metal signs! They aren’t exactly right on Route 66 but just twenty miles south in a community with its own fire department, a golf course, club house with a swimming pool, tennis courts, a park, several small businesses and lots and lots of nice people. It is a very “happening” and coveted area with some year-round residents and many summer and weekend residents. Call me at 602-321-6511 if you are interested in a cabin for your own getaway.
