B.A. (Hons) Fashion Design Today’s fashion designer must not only bear witness to the industrial, political <strong>and</strong> socio-economical conditions around them, they must interpret those trends into clothing that respond to the aesthetic <strong>and</strong> functional needs <strong>of</strong> an ever complex <strong>and</strong> expansive marketplace. <strong>The</strong> B.A (Hons) degree in Fashion Design programme is <strong>of</strong>fered as a four year course <strong>of</strong> study. Originality <strong>and</strong> flair are emphasized within a framework <strong>of</strong> good design <strong>and</strong> sound production techniques. In their first year, students learn the basics <strong>of</strong> art <strong>and</strong> design from which to project their own creative talent. On the second level, they learn all areas <strong>of</strong> garment production encountered in a pr<strong>of</strong>essional atelier: pattern drafting, draping, fashion drawing, colour story development, presentation, illustration, <strong>and</strong> the realization <strong>of</strong> the finished garment. On the third <strong>and</strong> fourth levels, students learn advanced studio skills as well as designing for specific markets, textile arts, fashion computing <strong>and</strong> basic marketing principals.
