ROKPA in numbers
Project expenditure by focus
This chart shows the financial distribution of the main focus
areas in ROKPA‘s work in all project countries for the year 2017.
ROKPA‘s most financially intensive project during 2017 was the
construction of the new multi-purpose building, the Akong
Rinpoche Memorial Center, in Kathmandu, Nepal. The new
building is to a large extent dedicated to education, but is shown
separately in the chart. The minimal project spending in the
Tibetan areas of China led to a significant decline in the share of
education, from 37% in the previous year to 14% in 2017.
Expenditure on medical care and nutrition has also been affected
by the reduced payments in the Tibetan areas of China. The
„Other“ share takes into account all those projects that cannot
be clearly assigned to a focus area. These include support for
cultural concerns or living costs of individual beneficiaries. The
project support expenses include only costs, which are distributed
over several projects.
Total Project Expenses (100%):
CHF 1’064’542 / Previous Year: CHF 1’959’013
Number of Projects*:
19 / Previous Year: 88
* The number of projects dropped significantly compared to the
previous year. This is explained by the fact that in 2017 no
payments could be made to the almost 70 ROKPA projects in the
Tibetan areas of China.
Project expenditure by target groups
ROKPA places special emphasis on empowering disadvantaged
children and adolescents as well as women. In 2017, around
35% of all project expenditure was spent on children and
adolescents and just under 30% on projects with female
beneficiaries.
