The College of <strong>Graduate</strong> Studies<br />
The College of <strong>Graduate</strong> Studies is the primary administrative<br />
unit for graduate students enrolled at CMU. On a daily basis, the<br />
College of <strong>Graduate</strong> Studies handles all types of issues affecting<br />
graduate students, from admission through the awarding of<br />
graduate certificates and degrees. The dean of the college has a<br />
variety of duties including: continually advocating for excellence<br />
regarding every aspect of the graduate enterprise, reviewing existing<br />
programs, encouraging the development of new programs,<br />
promoting and supporting graduate student research and creative<br />
endeavors, increasing support for graduate programs and graduate<br />
students, building and maintaining the institutional infrastructure<br />
for graduate education, and enforcing university policies regarding<br />
graduate education.<br />
The <strong>Graduate</strong> Student Handbook is available on the College<br />
of <strong>Graduate</strong> Studies website for all CMU graduate students.<br />
This handbook describes graduate policies and procedures and<br />
provides detailed information about financial support opportunities<br />
at CMU.<br />
The staff of the College of <strong>Graduate</strong> Studies is available to<br />
answer questions or help current and prospective graduate students<br />
with any problems they may have. In addition, if you have<br />
general questions concerning graduate studies at CMU, the Office<br />
of the Dean or the <strong>Graduate</strong> Student Services staff are happy to<br />
be of assistance.<br />

Campus Visits<br />
The College of <strong>Graduate</strong> Studies welcomes visits from prospective<br />
students and their families to Mount Pleasant and the<br />
CMU community. The College of <strong>Graduate</strong> Studies can provide<br />
campus maps and information. Students are encouraged to call<br />
departments before their visit and set up appointments to meet<br />
with department chairs or graduate coordinators.<br />
If you arrive by car, stop first at CMU Parking Services located<br />
in the CMU Police office in the Combined Services Building on<br />
East Campus Drive (between Broomfield and Preston streets),<br />
for assistance with visitor parking.
