Inaugural Pink Street Party — a powerful success
Hundreds of people gathered on a cold, rainy night last October to honor the memory or
celebrate a loved one touched by cancer.
The Pink Street Party is a unique partnership between Buffalo Hospital Foundation and
Sara’s Dance Foundation to elevate cancer awareness and impact the quality of life for
those diagnosed with cancer. Proceeds are shared by both foundations.
Individuals and groups sponsored a string of hot pink lights, making it possible to illuminate
downtown Buffalo the entire month of October. Those in attendance for the Pink Street
Party enjoyed chair massages, food and lots of shopping deals from downtown stores and
vendors. At dark, all the names of those being honored, celebrated or remembered were
read, followed by a group count down as we flipped the switch on the lights. It was a night
to remember and we look forward to the second Pink Street Party on Thursday, Oct. 7.
