Position Overview – CTO
The success of Purposed, and our ability to realise our vision, relies on being
able to build a world class online platform, by translating the business strategy
into commercial technology solutions, to help solve the most pressing issues of
our time.
The CTO will need to guide the technical direction and architecture of the
Purposed solution, and lead the platform build to ensure it is high performing,
secure and can scale to handle millions of passionate users, to deliver more
and better social impact.
Oh, and one more thing. The most important thing. This solution needs
deliver an experience that is so amazing, and so emotionally engaging that
people simply don’t put it down, and it embeds the practice of impact in to
people’s everyday lives.
This key role will see you stay abreast of the bleeding edge when it comes to
technology and innovation, ensuring the Purposed solution leverages such
concepts to truly differentiate.
You will help select a suitable 3rd party development partner, applications and
other technical expertise to deliver our solution, and will be required to
manage such vendors as an extension of our core team. The ability effectively
assess and mitigate risks, will be critical in ensuring the success of the
Purposed solution.
You are a strategic thinker and will help Purposed deliver rapidly, while building
out technology processes and systems that support future growth.
This Sydney based, initially part time role is part of Purposed’s leadership team
and will work closely with the Directors on the following activities:
• Defining the technical direction and architecture of the Purposed solution
• Leading the delivery of our innovative product roadmap
• Ongoing ideation and delivery of new features and functionality while
continually optimising system performance
• Establishing effective strategic technology partner relationships
• Assessing, selecting and managing third party vendors and technical
resources
• Building and leading a team of developers over time to deliver an amazing
user experience
• Representing Purposed in external forums.
Early priorities include:
• Purposed’s go to market technical infrastructure and development activities
as required

Position Overview – CTO
IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT
• You are purpose driven with demonstrated knowledge, passion and
commitment to social impact
• You have a deep understanding of how complex and large-scale systems
work, particularly serverless or microservice architectures, and are fluent
with IaaS (AWS or Azure), API’s and platform based ecosystems
• You are an inspiring and experienced leader of high performing
development teams, and a strong appreciation for working in an Agile way
using practical project management methodologies
• You are infatuated about usability, human-centred design and exceptional
user experience across all devices
• You can ensure a predictable flow of product releases and have a tenacious
focus on code quality, optimisation, reliability, security and scalability
• You have defined and implemented internal processes for continuous
delivery, development, testing, deployment, monitoring and support
operations, as well as quality and security standards for infrastructure and
technical operations
• You effectively collaborate with design, marketing, vendor, investor and
management teams
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF (BUT NOT REQUIRED)
• You have tech start up experience in a CTO or similar senior role
• You are qualified with a relevant degree in computer science
• You are passionate about social networks and gamification
• You are fluent in native mobile application development
• You are fascinated by continued advances in the wider digital economy
and always thinking about how these relate to satisfying users' needs and
requirements over time.
• You have a wide array of networks and trusted relationships you can
leverage to accelerate the awareness and adoption of Purposed
ROLE REMUNERATION
• Given that Purposed is pre-revenue, we’ve attracted a high calibre team of
like-minded leaders who are passionate about our vision and believe in the
business’s viability
• Forecasts indicate we will secure our foundation partners by Q3 2018
which will drive MVP funding. Until then, key roles within the team are
being remunerated with equity
