TALK 3: #GodPost
“In the sixth month, the angel
Gabriel was sent from God to a
town of Galilee called Nazareth, to
a virgin betrothed to a man named
Joseph, of the house of David, and
the virgin’s name was Mary. And
coming to her, he said, ‘Hail, favored
one! The Lord is with you.’ But she
was greatly troubled at what was
said and pondered what sort of
greeting this might be.”
–Luke 1:26-28, NABRE,
(emphasis added)
“Then the angel said to her, ‘Do not
be afraid, Mary, for you have found
favor with God. Behold, you will
conceive in your womb and bear a
son, and you shall name him Jesus.’”
–Luke 1:30-31, NABRE,
emphasis added
“But Mary said to the angel,
‘How can this be, since I have no
relations with a man?’”
–Luke 1:34, NABRE
Other Verses:
– Luke 1:38, NABRE,
– Luke 1:46-48, NABRE,
– 1 Samuel 3:1 NIV
Personal Reflection and Group
Discussion:
How can you be more deliberate
in listening to God’s voice—and
spreading it—amidst the tidal wave
of other voices you hear every day?
Be Deliberate
Unfollow the Noise
Whose voice do you listen to most of the time?
An actor that you follow in IG?
A business guru that you listen to in your podcast?
A YouTuber that travels all over the world and shares his videos?
Ask yourself this huge question: Do these voices help you in getting
closer to your life vision? Or do they draw you away from it?
Daily, we’re bombarded with a barrage of voices. Messages. Photos.
Videos. We can’t just keep receiving what is sent to our phones. We need
to be more deliberate on who we follow, who we unfollow and even who we
block. You need to be more deliberate in listening to God’s Voice.
Have a life-changing Feast today!
May your dreams come true,
BO SANCHEZ
Recently, I met up with an old friend of mine whom I haven’t seen for years.
Immediately when I saw him, I noticed how he looked so distressed. He had
eye bags so big they looked like pieces of luggage.
“Are you alright?” I asked. He answered, “My girlfriend and I broke up
a month ago and I haven’t been sleeping very well. The problem is, I just
checked my Facebook a few minutes ago and saw her post a photo of her
with another guy. And then I saw some comments on the photo from our
friends and they were saying how happy they were for her. It tore me to
shreds.”
At that instant, I knew exactly what to do. I borrowed his phone,
looked for his ex-girlfriend’s account and without hesitation, I pressed the
emergency break-up button called unfollow.
Social media is filled with so much noise. It’s impossible to control the
content that flows into your feed.
Some posts are good but some are just noise. Are you still able to hear God’s voice? Or is there too much
noise in your head and in your heart?
Eliminate the noise around you and you will hear God’s voice within you. It’s time to unfollow the noise.
Have a life-altering Feast!
MY LG, MY BFFS
Lerna Lorque, an Ilongga who lives and works in Mandaluyong,
talks about her friends for keeps.
Wanting to explore my options in 2009, I left my hometown in Iloilo and
came to Manila hopeful to find a new job and begin another chapter of my life.
I left my family and friends and everything familiar behind, including
the comforts of our home in search of greener pasture and adventure. Shy
and reserved, I mustered the courage to navigate the big city by myself until I
found employment in a government agency.
All By Myself
I went to work during weekdays and heard Mass at the Edsa Shrine
alone on Sundays. That was my routine. But soon, attending Mass wasn’t
enough. My heart yearned for more.
It was then that I remembered Bro. Bo Sanchez, having read his articles
on Kerygma Magazine during my college days in UP Visayas. I searched and
found out about The Feast. Back then it was held in Valle Verde, Pasig.
Happy then Unhappy Sundays
The moment I stepped inside the packed air-conditioned room, I knew that this was what my heart was aching for. Finding The Feast
was like finding my home away from home. I invited my Ilongga friends there and this Sunday prayer event became our weekly date.
In 2010, The Feast moved to PICC, and I, as a Makati resident then, preferred to attend Bro. Bo’s prayer gathering. My friends stayed at
The Feast-Pasig with Bro. Obet Cabrillas as builder. So, I was back to being alone again on Sundays, the distance of my family from me glared
at me.
I thought I’d join an LG or a light group (then called caring group or CG) but I hesitated. Wag na lang kaya, baka naman masyado silang
seryoso. I worried I might not fit in. That’s me being a worrywart.
My First Time
Boldly, I visited the LG table and signed up. I didn’t want to be alone on
Sundays. I wanted to meet new friends.
I remember going to my first LG one Saturday at Glorietta Mall. Five new
faces– all single-women smiled and greeted me, including Ana Puno, the head of
the group.
They were welcoming, friendly and warm. Eto pala ‘yun. I wish I had joined
sooner. We had fun getting to know each other, sharing our blessings for the
week, discussing the talk series and applying it to our life experiences. We
laughed, we prayed, we ate and encouraged each other. To this day, we still get
in touch and meet up sometimes, even if we are now facilitating different LGs
already.
My Support Group
I don’t have much drama in life. But even so, I still need a support group
to help me discern my mission in life and know what’s best for me. That’s exactly
what my LG is.
With my LG, I learned to pray and ask for prayers when I’m worried. I
learned to say yes to service – I was able to serve at the Awesome Kids Ministry
and now at the Singles Ministry. I didn’t shy away from gatherings for my spiritual
nourishment, leadership training, even for seminars on financial abundance. Now,
I have savings and investments. Di ko siguro ‘to magagawa kung wala akong LG.
Iba kung may LG who goes with you to seminars, checks on you if you’re on
track with your plans and who celebrates life with you.
Speaking of celebrations, last weekend was my LG-mate Andrea Carcha's
wedding, now Padilla. What a joyful day that was for us coming together to
celebrate life.
Life is easier when you journey with fellow Feasters in a light group. To know
more, see ad on P4 or visit the LG table at the lobby today.
What’s your LG story? Email us at iamblessedatthefeast@gmail.com.
3 Easy Steps to Join an LG
• Choose. Go to the lobby for the list
of Light Groups. Select an LG with a
schedule you can conveniently attend
weekly. Make sure that it’s held in a
place near you.
• Show Up. Your LG facilitator will
welcome you and confirm the
schedule via email or phone. Make
sure to reply and attend your LG on
time. Haven’t received any message
yet? Pls. approach the LG table again.
• Share. Pray for the Holy Spirit to
open your heart and mind that you
may boldly proclaim your story and
blessings to the group. Remember
that your LG is a safe place. Whatever
you share, stays with the group. Also,
it’s not a must to tell your story on the
first day. Take your time.

Joy + Contentment + Fulfillment Eliminate Envy.
Series: News Feed
Talk 2: #Envy
Big Message: There’s more where it came from.
Used the wrong way, social media can easily fan the flames of
Envy in people. What we tend to forget is that not everything on social
media is necessarily what it seems. People usually post pictures and
videos that they want others to see.
TWO LEVELS OF ENVY:
Mark 6:1–6 Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
“There is a purpose
of every failure.”
– Fr. Mark Demanuelle
Failure seems something bad but it actually is a good thing. For
most, this is when we remember God and surrender to His love
and compassion.
"God uses our strengths
to proclaim the Good News
and also our weaknesses to
proclaim His love."
–Fr. Alex Balatbat
Our weaknesses make us realize that we have limitations and
that we cannot do everything. It reminds us that we are not God,
but still, through Him we can do all things for He strengthens us.
It keeps us grounded making us realize that the only real source
of our power is Him.
“Why can’t I have what you have?”
Or comparing ourselves to other people. Focus is on how God is
blessing others forgetting His blessings for us. If we keep comparing
our life to that of others, we will end up disappointed and unsatisfied.
“If I can’t have any, you shouldn’t have any as well.”
Or being happy with another person’s misfortune.
While the first level of envy says, "I'm sad that you're happy," this second
level says, "I'm happy that you're sad." We want the people we envy
humiliated and hurt. When someone is at this level of Envy, he destroys
not only the person he envies, but also himself.
ACTION STEPS TO GET RID OF ENVY:
• Be grateful for your blessings. Count your blessings and recall
what God has done for you in the past and what He is doing now,
for surely, He will still be doing this in the future.
• Be grateful for other people’s blessings. Celebrate the success
of others. Be genuinely happy for their joy and victory and pray
for other people’s growth and success. When we do, gladness and
gratitude will rule our hearts.
God of abundance. Sometimes we can’t be happy for other people’s
blessings because we are operating from lack. We have a scarcity
mentality thinking if they have more, we will have less. But the Lord
has more than enough for everyone for He is our Great Provider, our
Limitless Source.
