The Children’s Miracle Network Telethon
Vacation Loans
Play Now. Pay Later.
You’ve worked hard all year. It’s time to take a break and beat the Texoma heat.
Ask about our Vacation Loans. Now until August 15, we’re offering great rates
as low as 5.9% for those who qualify. You can take as long as 60 months to pay
off the loan and take up to 60 days to make your first payment.
While you’re on vacation remember to snap a few photos, and put them on your
Facebook page. If you tag TCCU in your album you will automatically be entered
in a contest to receive an interest refund. The member with the best Facebook
vacation album will be refunded a year’s worth of interest. Second place will
receive a 6 month interest refund. There are a few guidelines to follow: you must
be in good standing and be a fan of the TCCU Facebook page. For other conditions
please speak with a loan officer and get ready to relax on your TCCU
funded vacation.

Changes in Social
Security Payments
There’s a new rule affecting retirees who
apply for Social Security benefits this year.
According to the new guidelines, anyone
applying for the benefits on or after
May 1, 2011 will no longer have the
option of receiving a paper check in the
mail. Take advantage of the safety and
convenience of our direct deposit option.
Seniors have two options to receive their
benefits:
1) have their payments loaded onto a
prepaid Direct Express Debit
MasterCard, or
2) have payments directly deposited into
your TCCU account.
We recommend that you consider the
direct deposit option. This option will also
help you qualify to receive a 3.51%
Annual Percentage Yield (APY) when you
enroll in our Ultimate Rewards Checking
account. That’s a higher yield than you
would get on most Certificates of Deposits.
The move away from checks will provide
“significant savings to taxpayers who will
no longer incur the annual $20 million
price tag associated with paper checks.”
It is also anticipated to save Social Security
$1 billion over the next 10 years (I’m not
holding my breath).
If you are a retiree already receiving paper
checks, you have until March 1, 2013 to
switch to the prepaid debit card or direct
deposit options. Why wait until then? You
can start earning our 3.51% APY now
when you open and qualify for the Ultimate
Rewards Checking.
We are glad to know the federal
government is looking at ways to finally
tighten its financial belt. Let TCCU take this
opportunity to help you earn more from
your benefit payment.
Mansur’s Answers
Snail Mail
Slowing you
Down?
They call it snail mail for a reason. The race
between snail mail and electronic mail isn’t
like the tortuous and the hare fable. Our pal
the snail will never win, and unfortunately he
could get you into a hairy situation.
You have probably heard of the security risks
of using “snail mail.” When your statement
sits waiting in your mailbox, your account
becomes vulnerable. Unfortunately, we live
in times of identity theft and your valuable
information now needs to be safe and
secure. If that’s not enough reason to sign
up for E-Statements, the recent changes to
local USPS mail delivery is another.
Wichita Falls Post Office will no longer
process mail that is delivered after 3pm until
the next day. Depending on when our
statement processor sends the mail out, your
statement could be delayed. But that’s not
the only delay you should expect when
receiving your statement via snail mail. The
closure of the USPS Hatton Road facility
means that your statement could be delayed
an additional 2 days. Your valuable
information will now have to travel from
Wichita Falls to Fort Worth, then back to
Wichita Falls before ever arriving in
your mailbox.
Want to speed things up? Sign up for
E-Statements through our online banking
system or with one of our Member
Service Representatives. Your statement
will be delivered the next day, safely and
securely to your email account. Stop
waiting for the snail to deliver your mail.
Sign up for E-Statements.
new TCCU website? We are thrilled to
offer members a user friendly site that is
both fun and informational. The site is
mobile compatible to make your account
management simple and quick when
you can customize the site to fit your own
personality? Check out the “choose a
You can make the
Rainy Day
Are you one of the half of
Americans who say they
would not be able to
come up with $2,000 in the event of a
minor financial emergency? About half of
those reading this article aren’t prepared
for a minor financial emergency. That’s
according to a recent study by the National
Bureau of Economic Research.
If you find yourself needing some help, give
Texoma CU a call. In most cases we can
help you finance the unexpected like home
repairs, large medical bills or legal expenses
through a signature loan. We will work
with you to get a competitive rate which
many times is lower than what you pay on
your credit card.
So, where do you fall in the study? 28 percent
said they "certainly" would not be able to
cope with an unexpected $2,000 bill if they
had to come up with the money in 30 days,
and another 22 percent said they "probably"
would not be to able to cope. Only a fourth
of those surveyed would be able to come
up with the funds.
How would you fund the unexpected?
Coming Soon...
TCCU members will soon have a new way
to manage their finances. Money Desktop
is coming to our credit union and the
service will be 100% free. Members will
be able to track their spending, deposits,
loan payments, even credit cards with this
new software. The software is a one-stopshop
for debt elimination, financial management,
and money-saving opportunities.

We Believe in Community
(Left to Right) Receptionist Kathy Kelley, Branch Manager Tom Cale,
Head Teller Kayla Pendergrass, and Marketing Director Rachel Wheat
are all smiles after loading up donated clothes.
Making Miracles Happen
Clothing Drive
A last minute clothing drive to benefit victims of the recent
Texoma wildfires turned out to be a huge success. Thanks
to the generosity of our members and others, TCCU was
able to pack a 14 foot U-Haul with donations for Faith
Mission. “I was beginning to think we wouldn’t be able to
fit it all in there. It’s a good challenge to have,” Head Teller
and clothing drive coordinator Kayla Pendergrass said.
TCCU also sent baked goods from Dream Bakers to all the
Wichita Falls Fire Stations as a way to show our support
and thanks to all our local Firefighters. We also provided
meals to the firefighters battling the Possum Kingdom fire.
“It’s efforts like these that make Texoma Community Credit
Union and our members stand out above other financial
institutions,” Marketing Director Rachel Wheat said.
With the help of our members, Texoma Community Credit Union is making miracles happen for some local children. In May
TCCU staff presented an $8,000 check to local Children’s Miracle Network specialist
Suzanne Stone.
Every penny of the donation will stay in the Texoma community, and is used at United
Regional Health Care System. “Just in 2010 alone over 2100 children were born at United
Regional, over 15,000 were treated in our Emergency Department and over 580 were
admitted and discharged from the pediatric unity," Stone says. “Each and every one of
them used equipment that was provided by Children's Miracle Network. From the needles
to blood pressure cuffs, beds to ventilators, all the equipment necessary to treat children
is smaller and unique to them.”
If it weren’t for the kind hearts of the Texoma community to help purchase that
equipment, the only option for those children and their families would be to travel
to Oklahoma City,
Fort Worth or Dallas
for care.
(Left to Right) TCCU Charity Committee members Wayne Mansur, Jenna Boyd,
Kevin Scott, Debbie Walmsley, Tina Taylor, Jerry Brady, Kate Kyle, Lindsay Morton,
Leslie Rhodes, and Suzanne Ellis pose with CMN Specialist Suzanne Stone.
Local CMN Specialist Suzanne Stone receives a
donation of $8,000 from President Wayne Mansur
on behalf of TCCU.
“Thanks to the generosity of our community members like
you, our children are able to stay close to home to receive the
care they need. The added expense of travel, hotel stays, food
costs, and the separation of the family are just a few of the
many additional stressors added when a child is sick and has
to be cared for elsewhere,” Stone says.
The donation of $8,000 comes from the enrollment costs
when members sign up for the Skip-a-Pay program. Credit
Unions have been a strong supporter of Children’s Miracle
Network and TCCU has been contributing to this effort for
nearly 15 years.
Safety Tips
• Never disclose your PIN number to anyone! You
are the only one who should know the PIN. Do not
give it out when making purchases; you should
punch in the numbers yourself, and it should be
done in a way that others may not observe the
numbers pressed. Even TCCU employees have NO
NEED TO KNOW YOUR PIN for any reason. Do
not give it to anyone over the phone or by email or
text claiming to be a TCCU employee.
• Observe your surroundings before using an ATM.
If the machine is obstructed from view or poorly lit,
visit another ATM.
• Take a friend with you - especially at night.
• Have your card out and ready to use.
• Shield the screen and keyboard so anyone waiting
to use the ATM cannot see you enter your PIN or
transaction amount.
• Put your cash, card and receipt away immediately.
Count your money later, and always keep your receipt.
• If you see anyone or anything suspicious, cancel
your transaction and leave immediately. If anyone
follows you after making a transaction, go to a
crowded, well-lit area and call the police.
• When using an enclosed ATM that requires your
card to open the door, avoid letting strangers follow
you inside.
• When using a drive-up ATM, make sure all passenger
car doors are locked and windows are up.
• Do not leave your car unlocked or engine running
when you get out to use an ATM.
• While many ATMs are available 24 hours a day,
some may be open only during local business
hours. To be on the safe side, plan your withdrawals
ahead of time.
• Check with TCCU to determine what the daily limit
of funds that can be withdrawn from your account
is. You can do this via Access 24 telephonic
banking, TCCU@Home Internet banking, or TCCU
