“I recommend that all graduates realize the impact the Air Force
Lt. Col. (Ret.) Glenn Coleman Appreciates Opportunity to “Give Back”
Glenn Coleman will never forget that as a young man, fresh out
of high school, he stood at a fork in the road, unsure of life’s
possibilities and the direction he would take . Today, nearly 50
years later, Coleman has no doubt that he selected the right path—
the path that led directly through the U .S . Air Force Academy .
“Thank God for that fork in the road, and thank God that I took it
and came to the Academy,” says Coleman, a 1964 graduate . “Every
aspect of my life was affected . I was given talents, knowledge and
courage . I was given a life and a career .
“I understand very clearly the gifts that have been given to me .”
In appreciation, Coleman established a charitable gift annuity with
the Academy’s Association of Graduates .
“I recommend all graduates realize the impact that the Air Force
Academy has had on their lives, and take steps to help preserve this
long blue line,” says Coleman, who spent 20 years on active duty
before retiring as a lieutenant colonel and starting a second, successful
career in corporate ethics .
“I taught corporate ethics in 17 countries and have written more
than 400 articles on the subject,” he says . “It was all based on what
I learned at the Academy and in the military .”
Coleman feels that as a donor, his charitable gift annuity provides
“the best of all worlds .” It allows him to make a charitable gift
while he’s still alive, and in the process receive tax breaks and
regular payments .
Setting up the CGA was “really simple,” he says . “The Association
of Graduates provides professional help—just tell them what you
want and they’ll make it happen . I appreciate the opportunity to
give back to an institution that gave so much to me .”
