LEGAL PROCEDURE
The below information is provided as a guideline for the legal procedure in Thailand and it may be changed by the
Thai Government without prior notice. To ensure you obtain the most current information and should you wish to
obtain further details, we recommend contacting the Thai Embassy in your location.
Below are steps to follow for having your wedding validated by the Authorities in Thailand and recognised abroad:
1. Issue the certificate Letter for bride and groom from the respective Embassy of your
country in Thailand (in English Language).
2. The Certificate Letter of bride and groom issued in English language by the embassies has to be translated into
Thai language by any Law office in Bangkok.
3. The original documents from point 1 and 2 must be validated and stamped (on every page) by The Ministry of
Foreign Affair in Bangkok.
Note: The valid passports of bride and groom must be shown for steps 1, 2 and 3.
To complete the above, please allow 3 working days in Bangkok. It is strongly recommended to make
appointments with the Authorities in order to have the documents issued on time.
4. Once arrive in Khao Lak, the documents will be given to the Takua Pa City Hall a few days prior to the wedding
(according to check-in date) for issuing the Wedding certificate (in Thai language). The bride and groom have
the option to go to the City Hall for signing the official documents, or calling the Authorities to come to the
hotel for signing the documents after the wedding ceremony.
Point 4 will be handled by Le Méridien Khao Lak and is subject to a fee of THB 6,500 for both options. Please note
that the hotel is not responsible for completing steps 1 to 4; the bride and groom are solely responsible for issuing
the correct documents. Steps 1 to 4 are not required if the bride and groom do not need a legal paper certifying
their marriage.
CANCELLATION POLICY
YEAR ROUND (EXCEPT PEAK SEASON – 22 DECEMBER TO 10 JANUARY)
90 days prior No cancelation fee
Within 60 – 90 days 25% cancellation fee
Within 30 – 59 days 50% cancellation fee
Within 30 days 100% cancellation fee
PEAK SEASON ( 22 DECEMBER TO 10 JANUARY)
90 days prior No cancelation fee
Within 60 – 90 days 25% cancellation fee
60 days prior 100% cancellation fee
Note : Hotel will charge all cancellation fees to the tour operator or directly to the client.
AMENDMENT
An amendment of the wedding day is allowed, but subject to time of request and
confirmation by the hotel. Once amendment is made and confirmed in writing, the
cancellation & no show policies will be applied based on the new date.
