Carriacou Regatta Yacht Races<br />
The yacht races taking place during Carriacou Regatta <strong>2018</strong> will be held<br />
as follows:<br />
Undaunted by a storm-shrunk fleet, ten teams saw competitive<br />
action in the fourth annual Lagoonies Regatta in St. Maarten<br />
Friday, <strong>August</strong> 3rd: Two-Handed Round<br />
Carriacou Race, sponsored by Doyle<br />

Saturday, <strong>August</strong> 4th: Fully Crewed<br />
Hillsborough to Tyrrel Bay Race, sponsored<br />
by Island Water World<br />
Monday, <strong>August</strong> 6th: Fully Crewed<br />
Hillsborough to Tyrrel Bay Race, sponsored<br />
by Budget Marine<br />
Registration and Skippers’ Briefing will be<br />
at the Lambie Queen restaurant on<br />
<strong>August</strong> 2nd, and Prizegiving will be at the<br />
Slipway restaurant on <strong>August</strong> 6th.<br />

informal jury. Event sponsors were the host Lagoonies Bistro; Mount Gay Rum;<br />
Budget Marine, who provided boats and prizes; Aquamania, who provided the change<br />
boat, Santino; Kids At Sea, who provided the start boat, Moondance; and Pelikaan<br />
beer, who provided their locally produced craft beer to competitors at the prizegiving.<br />
Round Grenada Regatta this Month<br />
Petite Calivigny Yacht Club reports: The<br />
Round Grenada Regatta <strong>2018</strong> will be held<br />
<strong>August</strong> 24th through 26th.<br />
In 2015, Petite Calivigny Yacht Club in<br />
Grenada revived a long tradition of roundthe-island<br />
racing and put on a successful<br />
event that drew nine monohulls and three<br />
catamarans. Starting and finishing at Le<br />
Phare Bleu marina on the south coast of<br />
Grenada, which has been home base for<br />
the PCYC since it was initiated in 2010, this<br />
regatta includes an overnight layover in<br />
Tyrell Bay, Carriacou, for crews to enjoy a<br />
good party and get some shut-eye before<br />
heading back down to Grenada.<br />
For those who enjoy a longer course with a<br />
more relaxed style of racing, this is the ideal<br />
off-season event and everyone is welcome.<br />
With time to appreciate the natural beauty<br />
of the Grenada and Carriacou coastline<br />
and the surrounding small islands, you will<br />
still find it challenging in terms of navigation,<br />
strategy and crew determination. The overnight<br />
stop means that single-handers and<br />
liveaboards can join the more dedicated racers, brush up their sailing skills (perhaps<br />
even dig a spinnaker out of the locker) and show what they are made of, too.<br />

the Skippers’ Briefing, both at Le Phare Bleu.<br />
