NEWS ACERA AND TECHO MEET WITH THE RENEWABLE SECTOR TO PRESENT THE “BARRIOS DEL SOL” PROJECT As part of the recent collaboration agreement signed between Asociación Chilena de Energías Renovables y Almacenamiento AG. (ACERA) and Techo-Chile (TECHO) to work together in the “Barrios de Sol” Project, an informative meeting was organized to present the details of this important initiative ¡ÉSTA to the ES companies LA PRIMERA of the PLANTA renewable sector and thus add new allies. “Barrios de Sol” GEOTÉRMICA is a project that DE SUDAMÉRICA! involves the delivery of permanent homes with photovoltaic panels and high energy efficiency standards, which will contribute both to decreasing the families’ energy bill costs and to end the country’s energy poverty. “It is very important for us to be part of this process. Our association is an entity that advocates a cleaner energy matrix and a more sustainable country and planet, but also the general welfare of people. In this line, we are very pleased to contribute in some way to the decrease of energy poverty“, stated Carlos Finat, ACERA’s Executive Director. The activity, carried out in the Auditorium of the Guerrero Olivos law firm, was attended by over 20 companies of the renewable sector, all members of ACERA, in addition to other entities interested in contributing to the Project, as the Ministry of Energy, the Chilean Energy Efficiency Agency – AChEE, the German Chamber of Cooperation – GIZ, and Fundación Imagen de Chile – Marca Chile, among others. ENERGY AS A PROTAGONIST: ACERA AND REDEG ORGANIZED A GROUP DISCUSSION ON GENDER IN MASCULINIZED INDUSTRIES It is no surprise that the Energy sector shows one of the largest gaps in terms of gender and, in line with the work carried out by the Ministry of Energy, the Asociación Chilena de Energías Renovables y Almacenamiento – ACERA AG. has set itself the challenge of contributing to this matter. In consequence, it organized, together with the Red de Empresas por la Equidad de Género (Network of Companies for Gender Equality) – RedEG, the “X Group Discussion of Companies for Gender Equality: Innovative Solution Focused on Gender in Masculinized Industries”. The event was introduced by Marcela Zulantay, Gender Coordinator at the Ministry of Energy, who presented the Government’s vision and challenges concerning this area. Then Valeska Allendes, Talent Manager of Engie, and Mauricio Calderón, Manager SHEQ of Atlas Copco set out their companies’ advances in gender actions as success stories. After that followed an extensive group discussion between the attendees and the speakers. This activity is the first of a series of initiatives within the frame of the gender issue that ACERA will be carrying out as a way of contributing transversally to the Chilean energy industry.
NEWS MINISTRY OF ENERGY: TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP TO PROMOTE THE INCLUSION OF WOMEN IN ENERGY DEFINED ITS FIRST GOALS As part of the initiative Energía+Mujer (Energy+Woman) of the Ministry of Energy, the technical working group to promote the integration of women in the Energy sector set its first goals: i) Define the baseline and clear and measurable objectives; ii) Launch the implementation of initiatives focused on the achievement of the sought specific objectives; iii) Define a clear leadership with power ¡ÉSTA within ES LA the PRIMERA organization PLANTA to carry out the required changes, and iv) Carry out a strict monitoring GEOTÉRMICA of the progress DE SUDAMÉRICA! with clear KPIs. The working group will meet on a monthly basis, is integrated by representatives of the sector’s trade associations and institutions, including ACERA, and looks for every member to contribute in co-creating the measurement instrument, collection, diagnosis, and proposal of an action plan. The next step will be the tender of a survey on the “Identification of Barriers and Gaps that impede the inclusion of women in the Energy Sector”. At the first session of the working group, Roxana Martinelli, coordinator of the Win-Win Program of UN Women, outlined the joint program of UN Women and ILO called “Win-Win”, whose objective is to provide the business sector with a set of tools, knowledge, and exchange of experiences to increase the economic empowerment and leadership of women as a basis for a sustainable, inclusive and equitable growth.
