When I walked into
the bingo room I was
just another face in the
crowd for most of the
vets. Some knew who I
was and others realized
who I was when I let go
with one of my standard
openers. “Sorry I’m late, I
got stuck in traffic, some
clown put bubblegum on
the bottom of my tires
and I was really stuck in
traffic.”
Meanwhile Fred, who
is a resident at another
home, got a look at me
in my Florida attire when
I met him and other
residents from his assisted
living facility while they

had a barbecue at our
local beach. The other
residents recognized
who I was when I (YUP,
you got it) opened my
mouth and a joke came
out. “Hey” I said, “Did
you see what happened?
I almost drowned. The
lifeguard swam out to
me and asked me to stop
screaming because some
of the beachgoers were
trying to sleep.”
So, the results of my
experiment were mixed
and non-conclusive. I
guess I should have
expected that. After all
I’m not a scientist, I’m a
Clown.
