Fratello’s expands with third suburban location

As brothers-in-law, business
partners and fellow
cooks, Marco Caso’s and
Adriano Martino’s lives
have been interconnected
for more than 30 years.
After years of running a
successful family catering
business, the duo had the
perfect name to complement
the homemade, “old
world” cuisine when their
first deli opened in 2015.
Fratello’s, which in Italian
means “brother’s” came to
represent a place where patrons
could get fresh meats,
pastas, salads, sandwiches
and desserts, as well as custom
sauces, herb and spice
blends, or even pre-made
appetizers and meals.
“It reminds me of [how]
my [grandmother], how
she cooked,” said customer
Kevin Spizza, who ordered
chicken BMT [$7.99], a
marinated chicken breast
with fresh mozzarella and
tomato drizzled with a balsamic
glaze, served on the
panini portion of the menu.
“And I’ve got to have some
arancini [$1.99 each] to
take home.”
This past April, the coowners
opened their third
suburban Cook County eatery
off of 183rd Street and
Harlem Avenue in Tinley
Park, joining two smaller
deli and cafe locations in
Homewood. At approximately
3,000 square feet,
with outdoor seating for
roughly 15, Caso said this
location is the largest of
the three and also features
something new: a brick
oven that bakes a very thin
crust pizza with high temperature.

that include pollo Italiano
($7.69, a flame grilled
chicken breast with provolone
cheese, roasted red
peppers, and parsley gremolata
on a toasted focaccia
bun), eggplant Parmigiana
($7.59, served with melted
mozzarella and marinara
sauce) and pancetta and
portobello fettucine ($9.99,
made with imported pancetta
and garlic sautéed in
a cherry tomato Parmesan
sauce). Staples of their past
catering businesses include
Italian beef ($7.59) and Italian
sausage ($6.69) with
french fries or the soup of
the day.
“This menu is pretty extensive,”
Caso said. “We’ve
always followed the notion
of only selling things we
would want to eat.”
Fratello’s also crafts its
own house Italian, ranch
and apple vinaigrette dressings
to compliment an Italian
chop salad, Chicagostyle
chicken chop salad,
and chicken apple and pecan
salad, which can be ordered
in either full ($8.59)
or half ($5.59) servings. For
those looking for healthier
options, the Tinley Park
establishment has it’s own
healthy living menu, which
features seared fish, turkey
burgers and flank steak veggie
bowls.
Additional services include
private and commercial
catering, box meal orders,
school meal programs
and cafeteria management.
Food and groceries can
be ordered and delivered
through its website or mobile
apps DoorDash and
Slice.
