An employee of Walgreens, 811 Green Bay Road, Wilmette, told police that a black male, in his 40s, entered the store at approximately 7:50 p.m. Aug. 6 and allegedly put several razors (valued at more than $1,000) in a store handbasket and exited the store with the basket and product without payment. The unknown offender fled the scene southbound on Green Bay Road in a Chevrolet with a black female driver. They were not located. WILMETTE Aug. 10 • A parent reported that between noon-3 p.m. Aug. 9 an unknown offender(s) stole his son’s unlocked mountain bike while his son was at day camp at Romona School, 600 Romona Road. Aug. 9 • William Weir, 23, homeless, was arrested at 9:55 a.m. Aug. 8 following an incident in the 130 block of Park Avenue. The complainant reported that Weir, her estranged son, entered her home without authority. He was located in the basement and allegedly found to be in possession of a drugs. Weir was removed from the home and transported to the Wilmette Police Department for further investigation. He was charged with criminal trespass to property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabis. He was transported to bond court on Aug. 9. Aug. 8 • Luis Dietz, 42, of Wilmette, was arrested and charged with having a suspended license following a traffic stop at 8:36 a.m. Aug. 7 in the 800 block of Linden Avenue. Wilmette Police stopped a vehicle for a minor registration violation and found the driver, Dietz to be suspended for a prior driving under the influence offense. He was transported to the station, charged, processed and released on bond. • Between 1-4 p.m. Aug. 6, four men allegedly requested to power wash the front porch of a resident in the 300 block of Park Avenue at a “special price of $60 per gallon of solution.” The resident agreed and the four men power washed the front porch and began power washing the exterior of the house. The resident stopped the men when they moved to the exterior of the house and they told her they had already used 24 gallons of solution. She paid the men $1,440 with a check and they left. She realized a short time later the power washing was a scam and cancelled the check. Wilmette Police said “this is a common ruse” in the police report. • Rafal Rosinski, 40, of Schaumburg, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following an incident at 7:34 p.m. Aug. 7 at Gillson Dog Beach, 700 Michigan Ave. Wilmette Police responded to a call of a vehicle off the road and stuck on a concrete wall/seating area near the dog beach. The driver of the vehicle, Rosinski, allegedly had an odor of an alcoholic beverage and showed signs of impairment. He was arrested and transported to the police station. • Susanna McNerney, 38, of Winnetka, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 8:23 p.m. Aug. 7 at Lake and Wilmette avenues. Police responded to an accident where the driver of a vehicle had an odor of an alcoholic beverage and showed signs of impairment. She allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. She later submitted to blood and urine tests at the hospital. She was released on bond. KENILWORTH Aug. 8 • A resident in the 400 block of Cumnor Road reported that their vehicle was egged at 9:13 p.m. Aug. 7 while parked in the driveway. The convention was hosted by the Leagues of Women Voters of Illinois and Chicago. The event kicked off a two-year celebration of the coming 100th Anniversary in 2020 of women gaining suffrage and the establishment of the League of Women Voters. Founded in Chicago in 1920, the League of Women Voters is active in all 50 states with more than 750 chapters across the country.
