Dining
Backstage with Trent Zimmerman MP
North Sydney MP Trent Zimmerman was the special guest at the Lane Cove Theatre’s production
of “Next To Normal” on Friday night.
Lane Cove Theatre Company
President, Lochie
Beh said the Theatre appreciates
Mr Zimmerman’s
support.
“We are humbled that
our performances are attracting
the attention of
our federal member Mr
Trent Zimmerman and we
are thrilled to have his ongoing
support, particularly
at a time when we’re working
together with Lane
Cove Council to secure a
permanent performance
space.
”To be showcasing such
a high calibre of production
that continues to have
growing interest across all
parts of the community, reinforces
the importance of
the contribution we make
to the Lane Cove municipality.
“We only exist through
the ongoing support of our
audiences and those who
volunteer their time and
expertise.
“We look forward to welcoming
everyone to be a
part of our future productions.”
Next to Normal is running
Premier acts to lower
household power bills
Power bills will fall under a $72 million energy efficiency program announced
by Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Monday.
The Premier’s announcement
comes as local families
receive crippling power bills
and local charities struggle to
help them meet the cost of
living.
“Today’s package includes
$24.5 million for upgrades
to more than 20,000 rental
homes to enable low-income
renters to benefit from energy
efficient lighting, heating, and
hot water systems,” the Premier
said.
“ These upgrades will help
renters save up to $400 a year
on their energy bills.
“Cutting energy bills is a top
priority for my Government.”
The Premier said the funding
is being made available from
the NSW Government’s Climate
Change Fund.
“We are spending $1.4 billion
from the Fund to help
the environment and reduce
Opposition to Balaclava
Road’s boarding house
The proposed boarding house
has seven car parking spots
which neighbours told the City
of Ryde Council is “totally inadequate”
and will cause traffic jams.
“Our property is an older style
property on Balaclava Road,
which is extremely busy and one
wonders where this boarding
house is going to stick the extra
cars,” local Stephen Nowicki
said.
Neighbour Xiao Ma also
warned the council about traffic
power bills.”
The Minister for Primary
Industries Niall Blair said additional
equipment upgrades
will help manufacturers save
on average $80,000 a year on
their energy bills.
“Not only will this benefit
individual businesses but
also the wider economy as it
means business owners will
have more money to invest in
growing their firms and employing
more workers,” Mr
Blair said.
Environment Minister Gabrielle
Upton said the initiatives
will improve the environment
and ease the cost of
living by improving energy
efficiency and providing bill
relief for households and businesses.
“These measures deliver
real, tangible benefits for NSW
households and businesses
Resident opposition to boarding houses in the City of Ryde continues,
with several objections to a proposed 14 room boarding house a number
seven Balaclava Road.
problems.
“I strongly oppose this boarding
house, the majority of residents
who live around it are retired
and they want to enjoy a
peaceful life, not traffic congestion,”
she said.
“This proposed development
does not add value to the broader
community.”
Neighbour Veronica Lai collected
a petition of signatures
opposed to it.
“I now have 55 signatures
and our environment,” she
said.
The NSW Government will
also be accelerating the rollout
of solar panels and has
set a target for government
buildings, such as schools
and hospitals, to reach 25,000
megawatt hours of solar energy
a year by 2021 and 55,000
megawatt hours a year by
2024.
Minister for Energy Don Harwin
said these investments
are essential to securing more
affordable and cleaner energy
for communities right across
the State.
“Our Government has
always been clear about
the need to foster stronger
partnerships with the private
sector to ensure investment
as part of this transition to a
cheaper, cleaner energy future,”
Mr Harwin said.
against this proposed boarding
house which will generate noise
and will result in over crowding,
right next to my bedroom.
“In fact, the window of the upper
floor of this boarding house
also over looks my bedroom
while cars which do not have
parking in this boarding house
will park on the street in front of
my home.
“With the over crowding, this
is also a breeding ground for fire
hazards.”
