Hunters Hill Romantics exhibition
captures landscapes and seascapes
Maritime artist and Romantic Ian Hansen as seen by acclaimed photographer
Danielle Butters.
The Ninth Annual Romantics
Art Exhibition
will be held at the Hunters
Hill Town Hall from
Friday, September 7 until
Sunday, September 9.
The exhibition opens on
the Friday night from 5pm
and continues on Saturday
from 10am to 5pm and on
Sunday from 10am until
4pm.
It features an outstanding
display of Romantic paintings
from Werner Filipich,
Ian Hansen,James Hough,
Max Mannix and Ramon
Ward-Thompson
Exhibition coordinator
Adrian Black said it has
something from everyone
with affordable miniatures
to major works.
“Ian Hansen’s paintings
take you on a intimate
journey into the majesty of
the sea,” he said.
“As a veteran sailor Ian
has a love and respect for
the power and beauty of
the ocean.
“When viewing a Hansen
you at once lose yourself
and find yourself, set adriftin
the wilds of creation.”
Mr Black said James
Hough has successfully
combined both a passion
for wildlife and his life long
interests in Fine Art, while
Max Mannix captures life
in the outback.
“Max’s paintings are vibrant
stories, often larrikin
tales of living in the bush,”
he said.
“His unique style and
palette screams of the
quintessentialvernacular
that is at the heart of Australian
life.”
Ramon Ward-Thompson
is a true romantic impressionisticpainter
capturing
the beauty of Australia and
Europe with his deliberately
limited palette.
“Over the decades of
painting Ramon has refined
a skill that interprets
a scene,thatcaptures the
inner memory of place
with an almostdream like
quality.”
Werner Filipich is a dedicated
traditionalist painting
mainly in oils and
specialising in rural and
coastal scenes.
“A Filipich painting has
