The North Ryde Dress Up Fun Run is being held this Sunday.
The event is being held
from 9am to 2pm at the
Macquarie University
Sport Fields on corner
of Culloden and Talavera
Roads, Macquarie Park.
This year will be a dress
up walk or run with runners
invited to dress as as
their favourite hero, film
star, comic book character
or colourful team.
There will be a new fun
event this year called the
mothers or fathers and
babies pram push.
There are no winners
and no prizes as the race
is billed as a fun interlude
to do something good
for your health and give
something to a worthy
cause!!!
Registration is now
open at $25 for adults,
$15 for students and $10
for the pram push.
The two kilometre walk
starts at 10am prior to the
pram push at 10.30am
and the five km run at
10.45am.
The North Ryde Fun
Run is a community event
organised by the Rotary
Club of North Ryde, with
venue partner Macquarie
University and local community
groups. .
The proceeds go to
fund research into youth
mental health and treatment
programs, and to
other worthy Rotary projects.
“It is important to care
for the mental health of
our young people,” the
team at North Ryde Rotary
Club said.
“Between two and five
per cent of young people
will suffer from anxiety
and young children
with anxiety are three to
five times more likely to
develop teenage depression.
“It costs over $30,000
per year for a PhD student
to research youth
mental health problems
and develop appropriate
solutions.
“A subsidised place in a
Cool Kids treatment program
for children costs
$500.
“You could help fund
research or a place in a
treatment program for a
child whose parents can’t
afford it.”
