Unite against dementia across<br />
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough<br />
Alzheimer’s Society in Cambridgeshire and<br />
Peterborough is here for anyone affected by<br />
dementia.<br />
There are more than 10,000 people living<br />
with the condition across the county – with<br />
someone developing dementia every three<br />
minutes across the UK.<br />
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading<br />
dementia charity, working tirelessly to<br />
challenge perceptions, fund research and<br />
improve and provide care and support.<br />
Across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough<br />
there are a number of ways people can<br />
access support networks and speak to<br />
professionals. If you need:<br />
Someone to talk to<br />
You can phone at any time during opening<br />
hours to talk in confidence with a member of<br />
staff from the Dementia Support Service.<br />

Alternatively, at Peterborough’s Dementia<br />
Resource Centre, come to one of the drop-in<br />
peer support groups:<br />
• Tuesdays, 10.30am-<strong>12</strong> noon for carers<br />
• Fridays, 2pm-3.30pm for people living with<br />
dementia.<br />
Staff are available to listen when you just feel<br />
the need to talk, or to offer information and<br />
advice on specific issues.<br />
Dementia Advisers and Dementia Support<br />
Workers<br />
Dementia Advisers offer information about<br />
all aspects of living with dementia and<br />
supports people to access services.<br />
Dementia Support Workers give personalised<br />
information and support to people with<br />
dementia and their carers to help better<br />
understand the condition, cope with<br />
day-to-day challenges and prepare for the<br />
future.<br />
Home visits can be arranged if needed.<br />
The Carer Information and Support<br />
Programme (CrISP)<br />
The Carer Information Support Programme is a<br />
series of workshops available in Peterborough<br />
for carers and family members of people<br />
with dementia. This programme aims to offer<br />
structured information to inform and support<br />
the caring role. Carers do not necessarily have<br />
to live with the person with dementia.<br />
Activity Groups<br />
There are various opportunities available to<br />
give people affected by dementia the chance<br />
to take part in structured activities. These give<br />
people the availability to meet others in an<br />
informal relaxed setting.<br />
Become a Dementia Friend<br />
Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends<br />
Initiative allows people to learn a little bit more<br />
about what it's like to live with dementia and<br />
then turn that understanding into action.<br />
Alzheimer’s Society is powering the growing<br />
dementia movement for change and has<br />
already seen over 2.4 million people become<br />
Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friends across<br />
the UK.<br />
