The insects populating the alpine valleys
of Canavese come in great quantity
and an even greater number of colors.
Among them, a lot of butterflies from the
nymphalid family are able to live up to
9,850 feet above sea level and beyond.
In the background you can see the three
peaks of the Levanne Group: Western
Levanna (11,788 ft a.s.l.), Central Levanna
(11,873 ft a.s.l.) and Eastern Levanna
(11,663 ft a.s.l.).
This group of mountains is part of the
Graian Alps, covering a large area between
Savoy, Piedmont and the Aosta Valley and
including some of the highest alpine peaks
such as Mont Blanc at 15,777 feet above
sea level.

Our company began operating in the engineering machining sector
in 1986 and, through a natural and technological evolution, we
reached the current structure identified by the name Codex.
Codex is a modern and dynamic company in line with the needs
of an international market, where the global aspect of the service
supplied, rather than the mere mechanical machining (which
remains necessary), is increasingly getting more important.
Expertise in the machining area with a high technological content,
quality monitoring in our manufacturing process, capacity and

On a clear day, you can enjoy a
breathtaking view of Canavese and
beyond, from Mount Quinzeina (7,972 ft
a.s.l.).
Canavese is a subalpine geographical and
historical area of North-West Italy which
lies today within the Metropolitan City of
Turin in Piedmont. Its main town is Ivrea,
part of Unesco’s World Heritage List and
home to one of the most cutting edge and
socially responsible companies of the last
century: Olivetti.
Canavese is particularly famous for its
castles and its natural beauties such
as lakes, untouched woods, hills and
mountains.
In the background you can notice the
profile of the Western Alps.

Our regional food is made of selected
ingredients and well-finished proportions,
like these Agnolotti del Plin or the famous
Mignon Pâtisserie, great pride at the royal
court of the House of Savoy.
The food scene in Canavese is rather
rich, with numerous Michelin-starred
restaurants or traditional taverns where
you can taste typical Piedmontese dishes
in a cozy and unpretentious environment.
Canavese is the land of wine as well; you
can enjoy a glass of Erbaluce, a typical and
elaborate white wine with its bright golden
color, its flowerish scent and its fresh taste
while having an aperitif “au plen air”.

Considering our clients’ requirements also means producing
Assembled Systems or ready to install Kits. Codex is able to manage
all the collateral aspects of production: surface and heat treatments,
assemblies, lab tests, production and management of components
with a bill of materials, creation of dedicated packaging as well as
a rapid and well organized logistics obtained following the kaizen
principle of the lean logistics.
We are certified IATF 16949 and ISO 14001, therefore we are able
to meet the highest standars in terms of quality and environmental
management.

Canavese represents an important center
for the mechanical and automotive
industry.
This area indeed has seen the rise of many
different companies in the mechanical and
automotive field, thanks to the historical
existence of metal and steel producers
and the presence of the current 7 th car
manufacturer in the world: FCA.
We are part of a precious network of
companies, institutions, research centers
and universities such as the Polytechnic of
Turin, which is currently the best technical
university in Italy and one of the best
schools in the world, according to the QS
World University Rankings, in the macroareas
of Engineering and Technology.

Being part of a technology center is a great responibility that we
took with pride; we are driven by the great heritage of Olivetti and
the revolution of Arduino, just to name a few of the most innovative
companies nearby.
Codex is investing a big amount of resources in order to comply with
the highest standards set by the principles in Industry 4.0.
For this reason we have invested in the creation of a “smart factory”
which will be able to manage activities such as data exchange
between our machines and our IT systems as well as cloud computing
in order to be able to collect data on machines’ performances and
quality issues in our production. This will ensure better products, an
easier approach to our work and a faster production cycle.

The Battle of the Oranges is part of the
historic Carnival of Ivrea, and a fantastic
representation of the town’s rebellion
against the tyrant. It is played between
the nine teams on foot, who represent the
people who revolted, and the ‘Aranceri’
(orange-throwers) on horsedrawn
carriages, who play the role of the feudal
armies.
Each of the nine teams have their own
established location in the city while the
throwers on carts alternate heading into
the town squares for a few minutes, giving
life to spectacular battles against the
teams on foot.
Horses are considered to be the main stars
of the event, they have always been taken
care of with great love and respect.

Codex’ machineries are part of a cluster of CNC stations. In
particular you can find vertical, horizontal and bar feeded lathes, with
or without motor-driven toolings, vertical and horizontal machining
centers, CNC grinding machines.
The recent adoption of tablets on board of each machine, will
allow to respond immediately to quality issues, providing the
quality department with detailed data and reports, and to prioritize
maintenance activities in strict relation to the automatized tooling
warehouse at our disposal.
Most of the toolings we use are specifically designed within a
development program with toolings producers such as Sandvik, in
order to deliver the maximum accuracy as well as a cost reduction
of our processes.

The cross-country skiing trails in Ceresole
Reale, in the Gran Paradiso National
Park, bring the skiers, from the small
villages along the banks of the artifical
lake, to natural and unspoilt environments
surrounded by snow-topped peaks and
larches woods.
It is the perfect place for children and their
families to spend some quality time in a
pristine alpine environment while enjoying
sport activities such as skii, windsurf,
water-skii and hiking.
If you are not fond of sports though you
can still enjoy some sun and some fresh
air on the banks of the lake and perhaps
take a swim in the turquoise water during
the hottest season.

Gran Paradiso National Park has risen
from the ashes of the hunting reserves
of the Savoy Family and, since 1922, it is
a protected area for the conservation of
ibexes.
This ungulate with its majestic antlers,
after being extirpated from most areas
by the 19th century, was successfully
reintroduced to parts of its historical range
and it is now easily observable even at
lower altitudes in Spring.
During the breeding season, males fight
for access to females and use their long
horns in agonistic behaviours.

The market in which we operate is in continuous evolution and this

Canavese is sprinkled with castles: there
are over 20.
Some of them are of medieval origins
and are now reduced to ruins, others
are perfectly maintained and carefully
renovated.
They witness a past made of kings and
noble families that once upon a time surely
attended sumptuous parties in the central
hall of the Castle of San Giorgio.
Right in the 18 th century, the original
structure of the castle, built between the
13 th and 14 th century, was renovated in
occasion of a big celebration organized by
the owning family, the earls of Biandrate.

The efficiency of our work come from the efforts that we put into

San Ponso is the typical rural village of
Canavese, inhabited by less than 300
people and surrounded by an agricultural
and natural landscape.
Its most peculiar characteristic is a 7 th
century A.D. baptistery surmounted by an
octagonal tambour on top of which it was
built a bell tower in 1585.
Our company is involved in community
projects; we believe in corporate social
responsibility to give back shared value
that can benefit both our business and our
community.

When considering the wider context of the “community” in which
companies operate, even the most simple action, like planting trees,
is a sign of responsibility towards the people and the natural context
that coexhist around us.
Codex made a conscious decision in adopting methods that will
