The body of our campus<br />

continues to thrive and grow<br />

from strength to strength.<br />

The heartbeat of Trinityhouse High<br />

Randpark Ridge remains its care<br />

and concern for others. At the<br />

heart of this concern is our vibrant<br />

Outreach programme including<br />

the Thandanani Project, which<br />

was recently launched for our<br />

Grade 8 group. It’s expected that<br />

every Grade 8 pupil starts their<br />

own business and contributes to<br />

this project either by providing<br />

a service or selling products.<br />

Examples of fundraising activities<br />

include selling sweets, baked<br />

goods, toys or providing services<br />

such as walking dogs, babysitting,<br />

washing cars, etc. The project<br />

will run for five weeks in the third<br />

term and hopes to raise between<br />

R100 000 and R200 000. The funds<br />

are used to fund the Thandanani<br />

House of Refuge, which currently<br />

houses 21 abandoned children.<br />

Items that are provided include<br />

food, clothing, gas, electricity,<br />

school fees, transport and<br />

computers. An added bonus is<br />

that our Grade 8s learn valuable<br />

skills in EMS (preparing journals<br />

and business plans), English<br />

(descriptive writing) and computers<br />

(sending business emails). Not<br />

to mention the valuable life skills<br />

they learn throughout, such as<br />

taking responsibility, accountability,<br />

preparation, planning, marketing<br />

and creativity.<br />

Our Prefects’ Assemblies that take<br />

place on a Thursday also cater to<br />

our spiritual well-being. The entire<br />

assembly is pupil-driven including<br />

the devotional and uplifting<br />

message and prayer delivered by<br />

one of the Prefects. The highlight<br />

of the Prefects’ Assembly is most<br />

certainly when the Trinityhouse<br />

High School Worship Band leads<br />

the student body in worship. This<br />

band comprises a group of talented<br />

musicians as well as a growing<br />

number of vocalists ranging from<br />

Grade 8 to Grade 12. These young<br />

people minister to the rest of the<br />

school through praise and worship<br />

songs. Many hearts are touched as<br />

a result.<br />

Our cerebral ability has had its<br />

opportunity to flex and prove<br />

its worth in the Mathematics<br />

competitions that we have been<br />

involved in. Our participation in<br />

the Tour De Maths competition has<br />

proved a resounding success with<br />

our team currently in 13th place<br />

out of 28 schools. The highlight<br />

proved to be the third leg of the<br />

competition where Daniel Mason<br />

and Ruan Rabbets managed to<br />

come fifth out of 267 participants.<br />

the past and 2018 proved no<br />

different. Fifteen young ladies<br />

accompanied by four educators<br />

embarked on a Hockey tour to<br />

Belgium and the Netherlands in<br />

March. The exceptional standard<br />

of Hockey proved to be a real<br />

education and undoubtedly<br />

will serve as an inspiration to<br />

the girls to continue improving<br />

and developing their game.<br />

However, the real blessing<br />

came in the form of the<br />

cultural experiences, including<br />

newfound respect for bicycles<br />

and bicycle lanes in particular,<br />

a true appreciation of the local<br />

cuisine with Belgian chocolate<br />

and stroopwafels being top<br />

of the list, and a firsthand<br />

experience of the historical<br />

elements of Europe complete<br />

with canals, cobblestones,<br />

windmills and castles.<br />

We have no doubt that our<br />

school’s body remains blessed in<br />

terms of its cohesion, unity and<br />

vibrant activities.
