The picture shown on the left visualizes the shape of a litespeed ®
needle. The enlarged image shows the partially reduced areas of
the needle shank. Due to this shank geometry, the litespeed ®
needle is more flexible, therefore, the needle is more resistant to
needle break age at higher machine speeds.

litespeed ® is a patented knitting machine
needle by Groz-Beckert for use in high-performance
circular knitting machines.
The needle dimensions of the litespeed ®
exactly match the dimensions of the
corresponding standard needle.
By par tially diminishing the thickness of
the needle shank, a reduction of the
needle weight and of the friction between
needle and trick walls is achieved.
Therefore, less energy is needed for the
needle movement. As a result of this, the
energy consumption decreases and lower
machine temperatures can be achieved. In
addition to this, the reduced machine temperature
and needle weight minimize wear
to the needle butt and cams.
The partially reduced thickness of the
needle shank improves the distribution of
the needle oil. As a result of this, the knitting
machine runs cooler, the oil consumption
decreases and the oil fogging is
minimized.

The patented steel composite needles effectively
combine the advantages of low profile meander shape
needles with those of full shank needles.
These needles are as insusceptible to contamination as
conventional full shank needles. At the same time, they
have all the productive advantages and capacity
of low profile meander shape needles.
They have proved successful in service with leading
manufacturers for a number of years.
The maintenance-free high performance steel
composite needle
Steel composite needles feature a double low profile, giving them the same efficient cushioning characteristics as
low profile meander shape needles. The cut outs are filled with synthetic material, preventing dirt from collecting
and eliminating the problem of contamination.

TRANSFER WING
A needle with a transfer wing is equipped
with a transfer area in the shape of a wing
in between the loop forming area and the
needle butt. This wing is part of the needle
shank.
TRANSFER PROCESS
This transfer wing helps to transfer a
loop from one cylinder needle to its
neighboring cylinder needle. With this
technology it is possible to transfer loops
within the same needle bed.

risk of sticking significantly.

SINKERS WITH
ELASTIC RETAINER
• The sinkers can be easily removed from the knitting machine
for cleaning by lifting them out with the retainer and cleaning
them. This means that the time-consuming work of lining
them up again after the cleaning process is no longer
necessary. The retainer can be ordered from Groz-Beckert by
the metre.
• After cleaning, the used sinkers can be stored safely until
they are needed again in a knitting machine

With its needle oil test kit, Groz-Beckert provides valuable
assistance for optimal needle handling.
By optimizing manufacturing conditions, this development
permits a sustainable increase in productivity during the
manufacture of textile surfaces.
Needle oil analysis by Groz-Beckert is performed on a manufac turer-neutral
basis and provides an indication to the customer of
whether the needle oil they use is the right one for their specific
knitting process. To do this, Groz-Beckert analyses and compares
the customer’s specific oil data with that stored in the
Groz-Beckert needle oil database, which lists the world’s most
commonly used needle oil types.
Once the analysis is complete, the customer is given a recommen
dation regarding whether to continue using the current
needle oil or to change to a different type.
