School of MetroWest Engages Area Youth in Science, Engineering and Technology Explore this Dynamic After-School Enrichment Program By Deborah Burke- Henderson Teaching youth in a fun environment while challenging them to explore, research and study science and engineering topics is the focus of the S.E.T. School of MetroWest located in Ashland. “It’s all about providing a fun, engaging atmosphere for young students,” Owner Nancy Sergi- Gott explained. “Children are eager to learn and fascinated with the hands-on activities, projects and stimulating challenges we make available through our innovative after-school enrichment program. While we stretch their knowledge base and activate their imaginations, we also help and encourage them to develop the values of friendship, cooperation and inclusion.” Sergi-Gott also teaches science at the T.E.C. Sergi-Gott’s teaching method follows the Montessori school philosophy. Younger students (grades 1-3) who take two semesters of robotics at the SET may join the Junior First Lego League (FLL), while older students (grades 4-8) who have mastered the FLL workshop may join the school’s FLL competition team.
