Nelson Plumbing Contractors, Inc. recently enrolled 9 of their employees into the PHCC
Academy, an online program for apprentices who need a non-traditional method of receiving
their apprenticeship-related instruction. This program is recognized by the U.S. Department of
Labor as a reasonable option for apprentice training. This program is also approved in the State
of Alabama to meeting the apprenticeship educational requirements for certification.
Each course is the equivalent of one year of classroom instruction. The eLearning coursework,
in combination with on-the-job training, give these Apprentices the tools to succeed in the trade,
and advance their career with the knowledge needed to pursue certification as a Journeyman or
Master Plumber.
We commend Ben Nelson and everyone at Nelson Plumbing Contractors for taking this step
to enhance their firm through the professional development of their team. And we wish the
Apprentices the best of luck as they take this next step in their careers!
