Misty Fjords & Tongass National Forest Misty Fjords is a federally designated National Monument managed by the U.S. Forest Service. The protected canals and channels were carved from glacial activity long ago. Located 40 miles south of Ketchikan, its 2.3 million acres provide outstanding recreational opportunities and wildlife habitat. Misty Fjords is accessible by floatplane or boat from Ketchikan. In the summer, day cruises and flightseeing trips are offered daily.
