Academic WorldQuest Registration Open
Academic WorldQuest is an academic competition
held each year and open to all high schools in
Kentucky and Southern Indiana. Each school can
send up to two teams of five students to compete,
and questions are drawn from international affairs,
current events, geography, history and culture. The
winning team receives a paid trip to Washington D.C.
in the spring to compete in a national competition
against 40+ other teams.
The early registration deadline is October 31, and the
final deadline is December 15. More information

Bring Japanese Culture into Your Classroom
The Japanese Outreach Initiative is a program that
aims to increase multicultural understanding by
bringing free Japanese cultural workshops to
classrooms, organizations, and businesses.
Workshops exist for all grade and age levels and
include origami, calligraphy, Japanese conversation,
pop culture, and more. For more information visit

The Big Table: The World’s Biggest Potluck
Dinner
Sunday, September 16, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Iroquois Park
Sit down to dinner with 3,500 friends. Magical
things happened when people gather for dinner.
They do more than eat – the connect. And
sometimes, they even set records. This what we’re
planning with The Big Table. If we reach our goal of
3,500 attendees, we’ll put Louisville on the map for
holding the world’s largest potluck. Join the Global
Human Project for this event. For more information

The Fireside Chat and Welcome Reception will
feature Dr. Neeli Bendapudi, President, University of
Louisville, and the Honorable Gerald Neal, Kentucky
State Senator. Dr. Neeli Bendapudi, was selected as
the 18 th President of the University of Louisville
after a months-long search that drew more than 50
candidates from across the nation. President
Bendapudi will discuss her vision for the university,
and its relationship with west Louisville and the
African American community.
The Forum Series is sponsored by the UofL College
of Arts and Sciences, Office of the Dean, Office for
International, Diversity and Engagement Programs
and The Yearlings Club, Inc. Admission is free and
