Pasadena Playhouse, 39 S. El Molino Ave.,
Pasadena, presents “Native Gardens” by Karen
Zacarias, a story about horticulture turning wellintentioned
neighbors into feuding enemies.
The character Pablo is a rising attorney and
Tania is his pregnant wife who’s working on
her doctorate. The couple has just purchased
a home next to neighbors Frank and Virginia,
a well-established Washington, DC couple
with a superb English garden. At first the new
couple is welcomed, but a barbecue for Pablo’s
colleagues and a disagreement over a longstanding
fence line escalates into an all-out,
comedic border dispute. “Seinfeld’s” Jason
Alexander directs. “Native Gardens” opened
Sept. 5 and continues at 8 p.m. Wednesdays,
Thursdays and Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays
